Im making sliding glass windows, and i cant seem to figure out how to make the boarder and the window slide together while making the glass transparent..
Example:

If you func_door each without a trigger setup, then they will move independently.

Have each a func_door with the same targetname that's targetted by a trigger_multiple around the doors. Should work.

thanks. i just tried to make the entire thng one entity then both.. er the steel was translucent lol .

That's the good thing about HL2 mapping - no need for the triggers with the I/O and Parent systems :)

If you want to make a door with a transparent glass, you must make two independent func_doors. One is the main structure of the door... and the other is the glass... you must give them the same moving direction and the same name if you want to activate it by the same button. Their properties must be equal... but the render mode of the glass must be texture and the FX amount what you want ( if you want a good transparency effect... you must put it under 150). That's it.

don't forget lip, you need to set a lip, if the glass is 5 units farther away from the wall the door goes into than the steel frame, then the lip is 5. It's easy once you understand
