how come in cs mapping tutorials they always tell you to make a huge room, in the proffessional maps there is a sky and walls around the whole compound but not a big room.?
Help greatly appreciated :(

well I know how to create big rooms, but i dont carving or how to connec tall the differnet shapes and most importantly how to apply a texture to only one face. I hav read lots of tutorials but I still don't get the texture thing.

texture aplication.When open u can serlect on face at a time.also you arline your texturs here.the icon is a little box with each side with different textures on it.It is on the left :)

carving is evil. jesus wasnt nailed to a cross, they used a nail brush and carved through his hands and the wood as he screamed (the part the bible doesnt tell you about) "OH GOD! THE AGONY! STOP IT! STOP THE FACE SPLITTING! MY DEATH ONLY CREATES UNECCASERY BRUSHES!"

and if your wondering about the sky, skies are exactly like big rooms, only you texture the walls and cielings (or just cieling) with the SKY texture. whatever you do, do not create a hollowed box around the room (or map)!
