I know there is a map that has legos in it that you can build things with, so how do I make legos that can build things.

I want to use the blocks so that in my level you must stack them in order to get up to a ledge, or so you can make a brigde across a large gap in the floor.

But then how do they stack and make different things, and not break apart (would thet be magnets? If they are then how do they pull apart from each other?)

What shape would they be?

Be warned, it appears to be rather easy to screw up the physics with lots and lots of func_physboxes interacting.

I am not a newbie, there are just different things I have not tried to do before.

What?

I did, but I want to know what the best shape to connect the pieces with would be.

What if I want to connect the legos sideways to make a bridge?

I want the player to make the bridge, not a pre built bridge.

I just want to know what the best way is...

I tried this shape,
_____
| |
-------
|_______|

for my legos, but they are hard to work with and the physics mess up after I add 16 of them to my map.

ya Luckeys been around here for awhile.. if I remember correctly...
physics setup is difficult, but If you get it, feel free to put it in the example maps vault :)

If you now how to model then you can try making a prop_physics, else you can use the model based boxes that comes with hl2/source. i think that so many func_physboxes will cause lag and maybe crashes too. i have over 32 prop_physics on the same place without lag/crash

The block I tried to draw up a couple of replys didn't come out right it is a small block on top of a larger block.

Did you select both of them and make the two a single physbox?

In reply to rabid:

Yes, I did make them one entitie. It is when the game is running when there pieces don't fit and makes the game mess up with physics.

That is why I need a simple lego design that is easy to stack and build.
