I have problem with my mic on my new PC, its plugged in correctly, but it just will not work at all, I have a sound blaster 16 that dosen't work, but it is disabled, if I took it out do you think it work then?

Try going to your sound properties and see what volume your input is on.

If thats not it, get a new mic. Possibly a headset like mine. :)

Tis' what I have, I've already done thay, done everything I can think of on the software side, even checked the BIOS.

Are you sure it's not working very quietly?

On Windows XP:

Start -> Run -> sndvol32 [return].

Options -> Properties -> Adjust for recording [OK].

Options -> Advanced Controls.

"Advanced" beneath the "Mic" slider.

Turn on the +20dB option which shall almost certainly be there.

I tried that, it didn't work :( .

I hope I don't have to go buy a USB headset, I got this one for Xmas.

I took out the moldy old sound blaster, it still won't work.

DOnt buy a USB head set, buy a USB mic. Its only about 12 bucks.

Probably not. And a headset is very useful for a HL gamer. :)

No, try taking out the SoundBlaster, then try nabbing the sound card out of the other PC to see if it works in yours.

We all use integrated audio, I would by a sound card if I had the $$$.

Ask the people at your school for one ;o - I got an old sound card from the computer techs.
