ARGH! I really can't get to grips with this system.

I recently looked at the new screenies of Black Mesa Source and the Anomalous Materials pics caught my eye as well as the transit hub and I thought. 'ooooh pretty.'

So here it is. I played with Hammer 3.5 for a while and this screenie is the only Source product your likey to see from me

Enjoy.

Looks good, but the source system always does.

Pretty basic room with water and a hole in the floor, a few fence models and a box or two. Nothing special :P

good for your first attempt though. but source's power is in the minute details it lets you add. like radiators and powercables for the lights.

thinks to make it more sourcey:
-displacements
-physics
-wires for the lights

Displacements in such a small indoor room, why is that needed? I believe it just needs better artitecture and layout. Maybe water, pipes, wires...ect

Woah when I maximised this page the water looked like it was moving for a bit. Source IS powerful ;D

Oh now I see the water, I thought you ment that pit... but there is a low level of water on the floor. Where's the leaking pipe/ceilling?

I thought this was just ment to be a demo of mapping in source. I just thought he should try as much stuff as possible.

Another thing that that makes a map sourcey:

Phys-Gun

(I still think the developers at valve are physics whores to add such a weapon to the game.)

Nice map btw! It's better than mine. :nervous:

Needs better lighting, better texture usage, better architecture and better prop model usage. Source easily makes simple things look believable, but there's more to creating a good map than that.

But, nice to play with the new things, isn't it. :)
