I use RegVac, and it works nicely for subverting the trial period for most shareware...err, COUGH... I mean it's pretty good for cleaning my registry.
Which one did you find?

RegScrubXP didn't work for me for a clean install for some things, and hence, was pointless for me.
RegVac is perfect for most things, but not everything. Actually the only program I can think of that it didn't work for is Paint Shop Pro.
How are you gauging that it works nicely, young padawan?

1. Makes your computer faster (less stuff to go through)
and
2. Gets you a lot of space if you havent cleaned in awhile.
I got 2 gigs of free space from it.

There's NO WAY you can get 2 gigs out of a registry cleaner - the reagistry is plain text and hex codes. regardless of how long it's been since the last clean it can never be that big.
Speaking of cleaning I just remembered I havent scanned/defragmented/cleaned my machine since the last time I formatted my HDD... 14 months ago...

ive saved 63mb before from a reg clean and i do one every week....
i use TuneUp Utilities 2006 - it has tons of cool stuff like themes, regcleaner, disk optimiser, uninstaller, etc.

Take my advise - when you need to clean up your registry or free up space (usually both) just run @KillDisk - does wonder

Registry cleaners aren't a totally good idea anyway. They can often break things. Especially if you have an old computer with a lot of "errors" it can be tempting to press clean all.

As the name suggests it defrags fragmented files - i.e. computer files/bits that become scattered around the hard-drive, depending on how much is defragged it can very much improve computer performance.

Yeah, hard drive defragmenting actually does something rock-solid useful, which will improve performance, unlike the dubious memory-'defraggers' and suchlike.
