I'm new to both this site and mapping in general. When I was setting up my Hammer configurations (using the tutorials I found here), I could not seem to find the texture files anywhere on my computer. I did a search for the files and nothing came up. I looked in my C:Program FilesSteamSteamApps~account name~condition zerovalve folder and there were no texture files. Am I looking in the wrong spot? If not, can someone please provide me with a link to where I can download these texture files?

Thanks!

Google GCFScape and get that. Then, go into your steamapps folder and open up the condition zero/counterstrike GCF and extract the wad's.. The wads contain the textures.

Remember to turn off steam before opening the GCF file.

You don't have to if you tick 'Volatile Access' in one of the menus in newer versions.

Eww you people map with steam? I use won hl for mapping and mod playing. Steam is strictly online use.

Yeah, WON Half-Life is so much better, but you can't really buy it at stores anymore, so you're kind of stuck with steam unless you want to buy it on eBay or something.

RabidMonkey: Where's that menu, I can't locate it anywhere?

In Steam? There's only 'settings', which I checked before, but that doesn't have anything...

What's WON Half-Life?

The old, or "normal", version of Half-Life, before Steam. I'm not exactly sure why it's called the WON version, because WON was only for the multiplayer side of it.
