Well, i really need a new video card because my fps is really low! my video card is only direct X 7.0 compatible!
And i am thinking of buying a new one, something that can run hl:2 normally, or probably something much better. i also have a game called oblivion and my comp doesn't even let me run it because of my shit video card.
Lets get to the point.
I know nothing about video cards and i need to buy a good one fast.
I want your advice on what should i buy! please.
Ps: i have 1.18gb ram so ram isn't the problem.

oh dear. it seems like your video card is integrated....i think. in that case you'll have to supply a photo of the inside of your computer if you dont know what an AGP slot is. or find out your motherboard model.

Yeah, its integrated. Check ur BIOS for your MB manufacture, then google - or depending on how old it is we can probably assume its AGP.

Yes, that is indeed an AGP slot. You need an AGP Graphics card then... derr!

Usually, the more money you spend, the better equipment you're going to get, and the longer it takes for the card to become obsolete, But check other users reviews, and you can also check newegg.com (a lot of 3rd party stuff but its hella cheap.)

Well its not the best, but its good - it really does depend on your budget. Now ain't a good time to get into DX10, overpriced and relatively bad performance, and you need Vista, etc, etc... the list goes on..................

I red all of the reviews on the ATI Radeon X1950 Range.
People say that it makes their pc very loud and hot, a guy said that his comp was at 50C when idle.
And people also said they need to buy new stuff like cpu to run the beast...

Yeah... but GeCube have fit an aftermarket cooler - so improved cooling and reduced volume levels.
Otherwise, just slap a Zalman or AC X2 on it... problem solved

A X1950 can run all Valve games fine, whether they be OpenGL (HL1-based) or Direct 3D (HL2-based). Make sure your computer has an extra power lead and enough fans to handle the power used & heat generated.

The only thing that I can think of right now that you should look into before buying that card is whether your power supply can, well, supply it with enough power. That thing is a monster (for an AGP card), and it apparently needs a minimum of a 450 watts to run stable. Unfortunately, if your computer was built by a major manufacturer, it's probably not going to have a powerful enough PSU to run it. Usually, they just put in a bare minimum, since most people will never even think of installing a powerful video card into it.
Look on the side of your PSU, and there should be a little sticker there that tells you the maximum wattage. If it's anything under 450W, it may just run, but you won't be able to guarantee the stability of it.

Something else you need to look at is the amps on the +12V rail. Most GOOD cards require like 20 amps and up. You just gotta make sure it meets every requirment.
