Yes, reusing older custom content is fine - just remember it all needs to be properly included with the map (either in mod form, or in the actual bsp file).
I don't want to have to go through and organise a mess of files in order to play a map.

Mines almost done. I'm working a lot on it, because it's also a learning experience. I've learned how to use cubemaps, soundscapes, 3d skyboxes and more, and it's really fun.

Place several different point entities in a grid formation around the map, and when you compile the log will tell you what entity the leak is closest to. If you placed them say in 256 unit intervals, you'll know the leak is within 256 units of that entity. Just thought of that, dunno if it'll work at all or if it's worth the trouble. Any other thoughts?

Uh...maybe I'll try that, if I'll have the nerves for it. Right now, I'm searching this leak (or maybe leaks) for about 2 hours. It's just astounding how useless this poinfile is. I mean, isn't there any other way to find this easier? It's nice, that hammer 3.5 shows this line in 3d, but I just can't make sense of it. I remember, when I mapped for quake 3 (like five years ago) and had a leak, the pointfile was MUCH easier to follow in the 3d view.

Now I'm just getting creative here. What about incaseing the entire map in a large box of like concrete, and placing some super-bright lights around inside the map itself. Spawn in the cube, and head for the light!
That would probably result in a lot of waiting around for it to compile, but you could fast vis and rad.
Or you could start not listening to my crazy person brain ideas.

Thanks for the help, but I eventually found the 5 leaks through the pointfile. But next time I'll do this light-thing, it would be still faster, than following these crazy line drawn by hammer
But I have another error...the vis process doesn't wanna run. And I don't have any errors in the map. Nothing. No leak, no brush outside the world, or anything. I just starts the vis process, and wihout any error message, instantly jumps to the rad process.

For leaks, I usually encase most of my maps in solid squared-off geometry so the hairline leaks are covered up. Look at Alpestrine, wierd little faces are all over underneath the map. This way, you can continue whether or not you have found the actual leak. If you want to, you can continue to find the odd faces later.

Thanks Doc! I used the Forest one which is right next to the swamp. Now when we upload the map for the compo what's the best way to include the sky? Just stick it in the zip file?

CS:S maps are judged by Source standards, I believe. So while Source will let you make something pretty in comparison to Goldsource, if it's shit it's still shit. It's just shit with shiny shit in it. Trust me, these guys are fair as shit. Go back and look at the results of previous Compos to see how the two are judged.
