I didn't say to. I was asked, so it is POLITE to answer someone's question! Anyway, I don't really want ya to. I hated it when the last compo got extented so I just won't bother finishing. I didn't really favour the theme for this compo anyway, I don't cope well with floor-space restrictions. I'd rather work on my HL2D map pack anyway.

holy crap, I was all "I'll compile over night because it takes too long"

well, it's still going. granted it's almost done, but it'll be going on an eight hour compile time soon. that seems really long, especially because the map's not even that big.

Made 90% of this map in 2 days, then took another 4 days to do fine detailing (props, decals, lighting) and to get the custom materials working.

9 days left people! 4 entries pretty much guaranteed so far and I think i've seen 2 or 3 others in various stages of completion. I'm hoping there's also a good number of other people entering who simply aren't showing anything here, all secretive-like.

I just un-skyboxed, and sealed in my map, and i also have all my structures built.
surprisingly i'm only getting around 1100 wpolies, but i still have to detail a few areas, light it, then do the entity work
so im predicting just another 8 or 10 hours of work and i should be done!

holy shit, trapt. You've really outdone yourself.

Doodle's looks really interesting too, and Tetsu0 is doing something different with the HL engine, which is important. It's very close from the screenies.

Trapt, your entry looks very similar to a map in the UT3 demo - Heat Ray. Got your inspiration from that map, or is it just a coincidence?

I haven't even played UT3. In fact, most of the map is just ripped from other maps I've done. :/

Also, Ghetto, the rest of the map is done too and looks fairly nice. Just because I didn't screenshot it doesn't mean anything. The interiors are rather moody and thus screenshots don't do them justice.

edit: After watching a Youtube video of Heatray, I can honestly say that it looks nothing like my map and that you are a retard.

It's only similar in the color scheme, and that it has neon signs. I can see where it looks similar in theme, sure, but I don't see what the hell that's got to do with anything.

I'm terribly sorry, the futuristic, half-ruined city, the neon lights everywhere, newspaper and all kinds of crap piled up on the streets, the angles of the spotlights, the color of the lights and textures, and that cold, abandoned place feeling that Heatray has, doesn't resemble your map in the slightest. I must have my non-existing glasses sticked up your ass, too see some similarity.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be overly offensive, but I really didn't see the resemblance. If you're really interested in why my map looks like that, perhaps you should check out the mod I map for: Dystopia or just take a look at my maps for the mod: Detonate and Exodus. I think you'll see more resemblance in those than you do in Heatray. :)

I lol'd. I'm not sure how many more compos I'll be entering. It's hard to find the time nowadays. ^_^ Also, I'm not gonna win this compo because Penguinboy and Strideh (judges) hate me and Dystopia.
