I can't seem to make a custom wad texture transparent. I don't know where I went wrong. I named the texture "{cmb_light" (with "{" to determine that it's blue part is transparent). I set the should be transparent part as pure blue (255). In hammer, it's set to func_wall, Rendering Mode: Solid, and FX amount: 255.

Here's a pic:

By the way, that's not a decal since I can't seem to resize decals; it's a flat brush with invisible textures at the sides, and the same textures (with the same scaling) at the bottom.

Here's a summary:
Name of texture: {cmb_metal
Size of texture: 128x128
Name of wad file: xetadel_decals.wad (I tried renaming it and still didn't work)
In Hammer...
Flat brush, not decal
Entity Func: Func_Wall (Solid, 255)
Texture scale: X-axis: 0.47; Y-axis: 0.47 (Fit - only top and bottom parts)

HELP!!!!!!!

Wrong section. should be in source engine discussion. You'll get better feedback there.
Get a Mod to move it :)

You need to edit the pallette in Wally or whatever you use and make sure that the pure blue colour is also the very last colour in the pallette (number 255)

Tetsuo, this is GoldSource. Good god man. You are no Half-Life fanatic! :furious:

This is for HL1... :)

And thanks, Urbanebula!

BTW, does anyone have a link to the HL2 model pack for HL1 (replaces HL1 models weapons and npc's with HL2 models)? It was used by the Invasion 106 mod. Linkage: http://www.moddb.com/mods/7918/invasion-106/images/55430/forest

well shit.
it's using the hl2 texture pack
mah bad.
And i wouldnt call myself a fanatic per-say
I map because i have nothing else to do!
Then i get dragged in and it's like a disease
i must finish what im working on. unless i get bored.
I'll stop now.

Yeah sorry about that one.
Just make sure the last color in the palette is the transparent one. It's a pain to get it sometimes.

And have you tried google? for that texture pack?
Or Fpsbanana even?

Click on the blue then do a flood-fill on the background. Sometimes it changes color.

And if you have it wrong, it'll flood-fill with a different color. Then you gotta mess with it. Wally is a terrible program to learn. It's seemingly random.

Select that colour and refill the area you wanted to be transparent with it, just to be sure?
