Thank goodness! I just moved house and was really worried all my hard work would go to waste because I haven't worked on it for a week. I came to beg for an extension but there was already, thanks man! :heart:

:D finished the 2nd beta version of my map today, going through layout testing soon hopefully...

Dewdle is super-talented alright!!! And I know from seing quite a few pixels in my time.

Seriously though, the map looks awesome. Maybe move red spawn out of the ground next time, though.

lol ive put like atleast 40-50 hours into my map and am only done with one part. I still have a "lot" to go. Its really kool so far thow and I got the hardest part done.

Can I make CS 1.6 Single Player (thou it doesn't exist) because I can't make rain work in Half-Life. It just doesn't work. :(

Just make a rain texture named scroll rain with a black background and set its rendermode to additive and ammount whatever.

Now I have a question. My map is very complex but I have a lot to go. When I test it says max_leaf_faces and than doesn't work. If I turn a few things into entities so they don't carve other brushes, will this give me enough more memory to put a lot more into the map?

QFT. It takes me so long to make something worth playing, I can barely finish in time, let alone start ANOTHER entry! = )

My workflow is getting better/faster, but it still taeks forever to make something nice : )

....OKAY. I'm forfeiting the competition. My reason: No more ideas left and no more TIME. Because my map in Halo (which is my only idea) screwed up i tried to find other games but i can't. sorry i'm forfeiting the competition you guys...

My entrys awesome so far. I didn't know hammer and gold could handle so much. My old computer couldn't handle 1/2 of whats in my map. By the way, Penguinboy and Ant, do yall have pretty good computers because It might take one to play my map with out lag.

Yeah, but that would still be hard. I actually considered that one. I was researching the best way to make beaches a while before the compo started just in case.

The main reason i didn't enter this compo is because i knew about it a long time before it was announced. :P

Halflife_genius, you shouldn't FORCE mapping.
I get the impression you might give up too fast.
Don't quit when some idea doesn't work like you planned it to.
Start simple, and expand from that. Skills will come. Learn and improve.

Ok I have 4 days left because im working allday today and going campin on the 18th. I got a lot done but I have a huge ammount left to do in those 4 days, one of them being a college day. Ill have to shorten up the final section of my mod so that I can finish. Plus I still have to make a splash screen and find a place to host the map...

I'm pretty shure that they won't judge your map by how good your splash creen look.
I say don't do one. Focus on the mapping.

I have released a Beta to my Beta tester and will post tomorrow, it is pretty safe to tell you what i have been up to. I remade the first map of the original Unreal on board the Vortex Rikers. Looks pretty good, but the Unreal engine is so much different.

Time's winding down, and i hate excuses, but...

Even with the extension, it's likely i won't have time to finish. This whole past week at work we've been working 18-20 hour days moving the whole business to a new location. I've barely had time to check my email let alone edit! = <

Anyway, I have the next couple of days to see what I can pull together. Here's a teaser photo:

The buildings are 1:1 and I'm justa 'bout outta clipnodes, and experincing some other weird errors. The bottom line is I've only built Terran structures with limited doodads and I'm just about out of resources and wpolys already!

If I had it to do over again, I would spend more time on the terrain than the props/buildings, and maybe do a 1:3 scale, plus, a focus on fancy textures rather than fancy brushwork(maybe in a future project hopefully).

Meantime, I'll try to work out a stable something to submit before the deadline! = )

It's 2 days left (in my timezone) and my map screwed up to the last minute(errors) sigh. i wish i could participate in this compo but 2 days?!? I can't make a map that short. :(
