On a side note...now that my comp entry is finished I've started on the actual intro map...yes!! We have actually 'started' lol...some screenshots when it's done will be posted to give you guys a little taste of the real thing...(also hopefully have the demo up and ready by then too)
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-03 08:18:19 UTC Post #269340
-_-

Yes...well...lets hope that gets done soon :)

well, we have parts done...mostly the introduction but right now ive started building the tram ride into Black Mesa...to start the storyline and hook it up to what we have got already...then we can release that as a real tech/storyline demo...the demo you are getting now is a tech demo mostly...
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-03 11:06:57 UTC Post #269352
heh. sorry bout that. I'd compile on my machine if it wasnt for my damn compo entry still needing to be finished.

No...just a video of the effort Ii put into making it look as good as I can...so far I think it looks great despite hours and hours of work for only a portion that you pass in 20 seconds...I feel shammed :(
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-04 07:17:03 UTC Post #269384
:P Yeah...thats why I said just a video...I can't be bothered building another demo...a video will show a bit of what you will see in the mod anyway...should be great

look at the env_model code? Maybe that will help you make a HUD model. Or maybe it's not possible without completely overhauling the HUD.
Why do you need it?
Notewell NotewellGIASFELFEBREHBER
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-05 08:49:30 UTC Post #269451
Well, I'm no coder.
You'll just have to use locus with an env_model. make it move with the player but point at the target.
This is a Spirit mod, right?

Are they bigger than 512x512? You can't remove large textures, but you can downscale them in seconds.
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-06 03:03:17 UTC Post #269482
Also you have more than 8 wadfiles in use, which it warns you about right there in the log. I'd say this counts as a strange side effect. I can't imagine you're using all 11.
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-06 03:06:56 UTC Post #269483
No...because -nowadtextures is enabled this eliminates the problem usually
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-06 03:42:11 UTC Post #269484
I've never heard of that.
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-06 05:28:18 UTC Post #269486
-nowadtextures includes textures the user already has as well, eating up file size. Use it only if you're using only custom textures.
Posted 14 years ago2009-07-06 07:31:25 UTC Post #269487

Posted 14 years ago2009-07-06 23:11:27 UTC Post #269535
HL CSG will compile if you consolodate your textures, and shrink the un-necessary ones.
And take off nowadtextures

I'm sorry hotdog, but i think you broke half-life with that map.
Is there a way you can add some hints in there to cut down on vis-leafs?

EDIT: took 2 tries, but it says it's processing the map! :)

And I finally emerge from the shadows. I've been lurking for a while, been busy with school and such, but I have come to lend a helping hand in donating some CPU power. Just thought I'd let you know who Client #2 was as to not be completely random.

Anyway, JeffMOD, processing should take a little bit. For me it took somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. I walked away for a bit so I'm not exactly sure how long but it was somewhere in that window for me. I'd imagine its a combination of your connection and CPU load and capabilities. If its still stuck there after an hour or so try restarting the NetVIS session.

As for the total process it seems we've hit the dreaded ~60% mark. My client hasn't read anything different for a good while, on the order of 5+ hours, where it was registering no less than 5 portals every 5 minutes.

If you think more power is needed I could donate one, maybe 2 more CPUs for a bit, although one is from a Dell laptop from 2005 (which has never been reformatted and chokes even when opening IE), and the other one is quite good however I can't guarentee it will run uninterrupted.

[quote]==================================================
