saw Paranormal Activity.A fine movie, I wish more films would adopt the concept of having less shit going on on-screen. Everyone's scared of different things so if you make a movie in which the horror takes place basically in the viewer's imagination, you get a more personalized experience.
I'll be totally honest, I don't get scared at films. I never have.
This had moments where I was like ohshitohshitohshit.
Very little of the horror is shown on screen; it's very psychological and MUCH scarier for it.

I finally saw Wall-E on the weekend, and it was rather good. Although the message of the film seemed to be very serious for a children's film. Although the film probably wasn't meant for just children.
I also saw Sleepers on the weekend. It was also good, although definitely not a film for children.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Another animu chick flick. In my defense, I didn't know it was going to be a chick flick when I started watching, and it only became apparent halfway through.
Still pretty good, and very witty for the most part. Surprise twist at the end was really fucking weird but executed fairly well. And the animation was outstanding.

My wife and I just watched "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly".

Saw "M?n som hatar kvinnor" and "Flickan som lekte med elden" a few days ago. If you haven't guessed it already they are both swedish films. I guess Thriller would be a good way to describe them genre-wise.
Pretty good films actually, I usually don't like swedish films because there's something about hearing them speak in my native language that makes everything sound corny.
But I tried to disregard that and I found myself enjoying both films.

Saw Avatar yesterday. Definitely worth a watch, even though the 3D didn't really add much (plus the glasses made my nose hurt). The script felt quite standard and similar to some other movie in particular, and it was quite predictable at times, but yeah, it's watchable for the stunning visuals on their own.
Did anyone else feel like it was shot in Zangarmarsh? Anyway, it's quite a fantastic world Cameron's created, and I must say I'm pretty interested in the sequel(s?).

Yep, Avatar was pretty damn good.
Like everyone has said, it's a familiar story, but that doesn't mean it's particularly bad. Can't wait to see it again, then own it on Blu-ray.

It was gorgeous, whoever participated at inventing those creatures and plants have a lot of imagination. And for me, the film kinda has a hidden message about what's happening now on earth.

Well, one thing is for sure.....James Cameron raised the production bar not by mere centimeters, but by whole kilometers with Avatar! There's just no going back now with the quality level of CGI that was being used prior to Avatar. Now with this new generation of "special effects awesomeness" out in the open, it should be interesting to see how the other big-wig Hollywood hotshots like Spielberg, Lucas, Bay, Abrams and a few others will meet the challenge that Cameron put out. Hey Pixar and DreamWorks, are you listening?

Even those who criticize Avatar for having a predictable story - at least it had a story. Bay's films are nothing but action and special effects with a few awkward love scenes thrown in and no real story whatsoever.

Yeah I stand corrected on the acting in the first 20 minutes thing, turns out they mostly shoot films in reverse. That's why the beginnings are generally better, but the endings suffers. I dreadfully think it should be the other way around for the sake of the movie's integrity as it plays on.

They shoot scenes that are convenient to shoot. They'll do a location shoot - film all the scenes there, change location, film all the scenes there etc etc.
