No, he broke the entire layout, everything was working perfectly fine [for me] before this 'fix' which broke everything for everybody.

To be fair, YOU try coding this thing. I'm under the impression that PB is just human.

Nah, I believe that there has got to be some degree of penguinicity in there somewhere. Why do you think the guy is so mysterious. Not a single photo online anywhere.

Anyway, programming a website is in no way easy, especially when it's live and you want to avoid downtime.

Sure, point out the faults that you notice, but don't just lay into the guy. I personally think we should all be grateful that he keeps the site up and running as it is.

It's happening when there are new threads in the new forum widget on the main page, it goes away as soon as somebody replies in that thread. It's a simple fix but I cannot access the FTP from work, so it will have to wait.

Actually it's fixed now???

EDIT: Didn't read shout, GJ&GG Joebama.

Also you tell me exactly when I said it was easy to code and maintain a website, and if so, then also tell me when I said I could do better. I'm not saying he's incapable of running a site.

This new addition has been long overdue and he had done it over just a few people requesting it, and moreover he added it to the existing code instead of TWHL4, so instead of waiting for the complete overhaul [So to speak] we get it now, which I am grateful for because again, this has been long overdue, new code or not. I had merely created this thread because he had closed the last one and I wasn't entirely sure how many people had been encountering the same problem at the time.

Lastly, I've never personally 'coded' a entire site but I had worked with mambo for little over a year now and I fully understand how frustrating shit can get when managing code, I had been in the process of editing the template CSS when I intended to remove some elements off the screen and accidentallyd a closing bracket and fucked my entire website over and I could figure out what the fuck had happened for two days straight when I finally screwed my head back on correctly and counted the brackets.
I also do very very light programming with a engine called GML, and when you're attempting to do everything out of code, including the creation of rooms, setting the dimensions of rooms based on the users monitor, scaling objects based on the users screen, attempting to convert the pixels of the users monitor onto a 0-1 scale for proper scaling of objects, then successively getting a proper 16:9 scale out of it, shit get's difficult to organize and manage, and everything you understood a couple seconds ago suddenly morphs into absolute gibberish when you need to go back and edit something later on.

So when in doubt, add or remove brackets? :P
Posted 12 years ago2011-07-22 05:30:52 UTC Post #296916
No, look for them, THEN add or remove them. :/

Although, ironically depending on the situation, it actually really does help sometimes. All it takes is one fucking minuscule character, ONE character to break over thousands of lines of codes. I swear to god web designers and coders must have the strongest therapy to put up with it.
