I'm using the seed that you posted with the mods you posted yesterday. I haven't changed it at all, and everything else is generating properly.

Well then I don't know.

Yeah Forge download server is up again. Going to install server now.

Well, now Forge seems to not even be able to open the installer! Oh well. Via Solo's recommendation, I've tried it through Twitch, and that seems to have worked so far. Not especially keen on installing it just for Minecraft, but no matter.

Now I'm going on holiday until next Sunday, so I'm sure I'll miss all the early goings anyway.

It worked without problems for me. You may need to download the missing mods though, best to download the entire zip file, everything will be included this time.

Hopefully I'll see you in server next week then. :)

So on a scale of "not that bad" to "university finals", how difficult is it to learn / get a grasp on most of the mods on this server? Might join if it's not too bad

I'm unable to connect to the server. The error message says connection refused with no further information.

I've tried using both a Twitch based install and one installed using your guidelines.

Not that bad. Some mods come with ingame manuals with a 'Getting Started' section. There will be times where you'll need to use Google to get information about a block or item. You can also ask here if you have questions. I'm well experienced with most of the mods on the server, as well as Solokiller (I presume).

Because it's not done yet. :P Just wait for my signal. Check back in an hour or so. :)

Edit: GO GO GO!

To Urby, Shepard, torekk, Jessie, Instant Mix, remember to give me your MC usernames to be whitelisted.

TGJessie is my handle. I think. I’m sure I changed it to that at some point.

(Also, since it’s happened twice in this thread now, I’d just like to point out the “i” in “Jessie”. It might sound the same, but they’re rather different names for reasons that I’m sure are obvious.)

It looks like you forgot to turn on compatibility for Mystical Agriculture in Immersive Engineering's config file. I can't put the seeds in the cloches.

File "config\immersiveengineering.cfg" needs it turned on in the section "compat".

For good measure the client pack should also be updated so it's consistent. It shouldn't break anything on the map.

I've updated the Twitch mod profile: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0s21tbt9y1dxs7p/TWHL%20ModPack-1.0.zip?dl=0

I'm using this to play, it works fine.

I built a small starting area around the spawn. I'm not sure if it covers the entire area but it's easy enough to get in.

There are 6 rooms with equipment to get started with: it's got armor, a sword, a crate of supplies that you can pick up and move and a bed.

Since the spawn is next to a preexisting tower part of the wall connects with it, monsters may fall in that way. Apparently the tower connects to an underground crypt of some sort, i bumped into it while building the walls. The razor wire on top of the walls will damage you if you touch it. I may electrify it to deal more damage to spiders trying to climb over.

There's a capacitor powered by 2 solar panels that you can tap power from if you need some, but please don't take it with you.

I don't use any custom launcher so I can't recommend anything. Solokiller probably knows some.

I popped in there just long enough to take a look around the starting area. Not going to make a start yet. Will have to find somewhere uninhabited to make an abode.

The Twitch client is pretty easy to use. Just import the profile i made and launch it.

I made a bunch more disks to make sure the system won't run out of storage space. There's more than enough power coming in (2x9 level 6 solar panels) so it should run for a few weeks before needing more space.

I've also built a steam turbine for raw power generation (25K+ RF/t). To turn it on just activate it from the controller on the side and flip the lever to enable steam generation.

To make getting down there easier i've added elevators. They're the white blocks in front of the central ladder, jump to go up, sneak to go down. Each floor has a sign showing what's on that floor to make things a bit easier.

There's also a clearing quarry RFTools Builder on the ground floor that you can use to rapidly clear out large areas.

It's kinda too bad we don't have Mekanism. It has a proper teleporter that could make traveling around a lot easier, especially between dimensions.

I'm slowly building out my area, but I've yet to bump into anyone but Solokiller, and even then, not for a while.
Jessie JessieLadytype
Posted 5 months ago2018-11-17 15:45:13 UTC Post #341261
I considered adding Mekanism, but didn't, there's already too many mods. Adding Mekanism after the fact will most likely cause the worldseed to change, leading to ugly chunk borders:

So I guess modded Minecraft isn't as popular as I was hoping for here at TWHL. So I'm calling it. My server subscription hasn't ended yet, so in a desperate attempt to get the most out of my money, I could switch over to the latest vanilla version of Minecraft, 1.13.2. Or even a 1.14 snapshot version. There some really neat stuff coming to 1.14...

Or not. Then this will be the end of the server.

Suggestions? Ideas?

I think the server had too many mods and it caused 2 problems:

The first one being that people like me who knew nothing about these mods had to learn everything, aside from helping Solokiller with his base and exploring the map, I haven't done much more interesting.

The second one is that you basically needed a somewhat beefy computer to even start the game. The only time I could join the server was when I had my desktop PC, but if I was using my laptop (2,4 Ghz Dual Core + 4 Gb RAM + Ubuntu), it took me literally 10 to 15 minutes to get the main menu (and my entire desktop was freezing).

I'm interested for a vanilla 1.13.2 or vanilla 1.14-SNAPSHOT, although I would prefer 1.13.2 so I can grab OptiFine (unless they also provide builds for snapshots versions but I don't remember).

Yeah, at first I wanted only a handful of mods, but you know how it goes, I want this mod, this mod and that one and before you know it, you surpassed your initial number of mods.
I guess we could also start over and remove a bunch of mods. This will be tough as there's a lot of good mods out there.

I also just very recently learned that there's a thing called Fabric out there, which is some kind of alternative or perhaps even a successor to Forge. People already made mods for Fabric for 1.14 snapshots! Snapshots I say. I don't even know how that's possible.

I'm fine with Vanilla as well. I don't think there's an OptiFine release for 1.14 snapshots.

I need more people to give me their opinions before I can even do anything.

Yeah, I'm in this same camp. Every now and then I will see something that causes my original love of Minecraft to stir, somewhere deep down inside me. However, launching the game and putting it into practice I very quickly realise how over the open world, survival crafting genre I am. :P

Good points, Jessie & Urby.
Have you every played mods, Urby? This might bring something new to your Minecrafting experience.
If we decide to go at it one more time, as long as my server subscription is still going, I want to drastically lower the amount of mods running, to make the game running better on those with less powerful machines. Again, we need to decide on which mods and what kind of mods to choose, like tech, nature, magic, building, etc.

Either that, or we try out vanilla 1.13 or even a 1.14 snapshot (may contain bugs).
Is this still going?
Er... yes? You interested?
