1. create a rough 'office' map you don't end up polishing because you're distracted over some life events at the time
2. slap down a heap of 'trigger_multiples' on some 'scripted sentences'
3. send 'finished' map to urby and have him fix the door trigger that you couldn't figure out

Behold, a meme is born.

Funnily enough, there was a floating scientist gimmick behind the window in the map that I don't think people actually noticed when they entered the room.

Reminder to hammermaps and SourceSkyBoxer that there is likely gonna be no code change and TWHL Tower 2 is gonna stick to vanilla SoHL 1.8. It's way too late to change the "base" anyways.

I would like the deadline extension as well.

Seriously though, I envy the people who can pour so much time into maps/mods nowadays. The Core would certainly be out by now if I hadn't got a job and a family and all that crap.

Between work and kids, I need that extension if I even hope to commit something to this project. :P

No, Strider will add the level changes when he does the final compiles of each map.

Yep, I'll take care of everything at the weapon stripper, and the map change will happen right after passing through it. I'll also take care of the map name on the plaque at the start of the floor (let me know what you want it called when you send me the final map).

I guess I should also make this official even though I halfheartedly announced it in Discord. The deadline's extended until the 29th of February. I hope everyone can make the most of that!

Well crap.
My room is pretty much empty still, I might not make it this time.
I've started working on my entry way too late and what I wanted to make turned out way too complicated for Goldsource, even for Spirit. Also my lack of knowledge about Spirit specific features didn't help either. My motivation to continue working on it and to simplify my idea I had in mind has dropped to near zero.

i got something i meant to use for descent ready for this, but i'm trying something nonstandard in hl mapping, so I hope it doesnt break on other ppl's computers.

I can also test the mod on won if u need me too. There was a won only error in TWHL tower 1 and at the time I noticed fair number of ppl had run into that problem.

Well, I guess that's it, the deadline's here. Don't worry too much, as long as you can get your entries in to me in the next few days, I'm not fussy. I've got a lot of work to do in the meantime...

Here's the plan for what's next:

First I've got to work out a map order. There are a tonne of entries this time (seriously, wow), and it looks like about two-thirds of them are combat/action maps, and the other third are puzzle/experimental. I want to try and keep a nice steady pace between the shooty floors and all the thinky floors.

It's a long weekend here and I'm going to try and use the time to get all the global stuff for the CDs done. Why did I do this to myself? I'll try and lay all the groundwork for the level changes and the HEV gate between floors. There's also little bit of cleanup required on some of the entries, and somewhere in all this I've got to get my 3 maps finalised too, though they're pretty close to complete. Then it's testing, testing, testing. Oh boy there's lot.

An update from Don AKA Unq. It might have taken a year (I thought I'd get this done quickly... ha), but it's very close now!

If you haven't been following on Discord, Unq and Pengiunboy kindly took over this when my life got a bit crap. In their and the Tower 2 team's hands, and with feedback from our playtesters, this grew into something so much cooler than I would've ever imagined. 25 floors from 18 mappers! You all rock.

Huh, is it that long ago already? I did start work on a floor, but abandoned it when it became clear that I couldn't finish it before the deadline... Anyway, looking forward to finally play this thing. Screenshots are looking very good. :)

That was an amazing mod, I gotta say. I somewhat regret not digging out Hammer or J.A.C.K to contribute to this but I would have been severely outclassed!

I'm still stuck trying to figure out Ogdred implemented that keypad in the Von Braun floor. Noclipping let me find the visuals but I can't place how the actual logic for it would work in stock SOHL and something like that would have been amazing back when I actively made HL maps.

^An invisible tank, the cursor is actually it's barrel. When you click on a key the turret shoots it, thus triggering the key.
As for the entity set-up, it's not all that complicated, more tedious than anything.
