I made a map surrounded with sky to stop leaks and all was fine, but then i decided too put sewers in, so i whacked em under the sky brush at the bottom and made ducts goin straight into it from the ground surface by carving it through (i know im bad), the compile was fine and revealed no leaks, but when it starts i move a short distance and the launcher crashes, this doesnt normally happen, any ideas why this is?

Thanks

Jesus christ. It's becase you're CARVING THROUGH A SKYBOX. You put the two most error-ing aspects of mapping together - and BOOM. You're sc*ed.

Get ridda the skybox.

ahh sh*t, ive deleted all the sky (theres mighty big leaks now) but it still crashes when i look at anything in the map that has any distance.
its cs_assault but modded by me. the ct (outside start) jus crashes when you choose the model. but terrorists (inside start) crashes after a little while when you look over distance. whats happening, any suggestions)

Thanks

Again a skybox around the whole level, 96a2107?

Don't do that... only place sky-brushes where you want the sky to be visible, so, that these brushes conceal the room (thus not creating leaks).

If you have leaks, type 'poinfile' in the console, and search for a line made up of black'n'white sprites. In most cases, this line can guide you to the leak. If you have more leaks, repeat the process untill there are no leaks left.

You should prevent leaks from happening, and if you have one, totally focus on solving it before continueing with the rest of your map. Don't 'easily' solve it with a skybox. You've found out that it causes only worse problems later...

I don't think your going to be able to fix this problem, because you already compiled the error, your map will always have many errors now,
I think what you should do Is copy your map,(without the skybox) and paste it in a new map, then compile and run it. It will work, after its compiled, then try putting your skybox around the level...

Oh and for those looking to use the SvenCoop skys, they can be found in the Svencoop/gfx/env folder. Just make a knew folder in the valve/gfx directory, (env). Anyways you guys probably already know that, But its for the newbs.

Unbreakable:

THIS IS NOT TRUE.
The compile makes a NEW bsp and over-writes the old!

Unbreakable, I have noticed that your advices are sometimes wrong, or not true, I suggest you try the facts before you announce them.

agree. during compile, you over write a the compiled file. so its always better to have 2 copies of .rmf and .map files in different directories.

Or just save your .rmf as a new .rmf...

Like I do: map_01, map_02, map_03... After each major change I save it as another map_xx. More for the sake of backups in case the current .rmf is screwed up by a computer crash... :(
