What HL version you have now? I'd say try updating...

Hah... I'm running on the update from the OpFOR cd... and I can't update... stupid 56gay...

You need to be running hl.exe -console -dev I believe.

If the OpFor CD version don't work, i'd update to 1.0.0.9 or 1.1.0.0. I have 56k too....just find a download manager like DAP or GoZilla and then you can leave updates and such on overnight or during the day. And yes, gl_wireframe is a dev command.

Maybe I have the commands reversed then... I have them as -dev -console... ?

Doesn't matter which way round.

You need to be running in single player too.

I am in SP, grr... Oh well, never set out to be a great mapper

What's easy for me is to have a desktop/quick launch shortcut to hl.exe:

C:SIERRAHalf-Lifehl.exe -dev -console

(depending on where your HL installation is)

in the target field. Works great every time, and it can be changed to add commands like -particles easily. Try that.

Um... I don't need that. And I already know that trick. The problem is that the command itself will not work. I know its in developer mode because there are a LOT more information bits showing up... and I can use god and impulse. ^_^

Hmmm strange. I'd definately try to get the update (I'm a 33ker and I managed to get it). Get a download manager. Even the Opera internet browser has a decent one. Get it Here.

Well, FilePlanet- 1. Doesn't allow resuming of Downloads. 2. Has wait lines that take as long as the download itself. :x

You can get from other places too. Google around for it.

Fingers crossed, my FTP account on my ISP is big enough to fit this on. in forty-five and a half minutes, it should be accessible at this address:

http://www.m0px.net/seventh/hl1110.exe

Okay, it's done. I recommend Fresh Download to get the file on 56k to allow you to resume. It's freeware but you have to register (the key is free).

Ok, estimates it at about 4 and a half hrs, so I'll let ya know when I'm done (I'll have to do it every time I'm online)
Posted 20 years ago2004-06-11 00:58:56 UTC Post #32193
Perhaps you could stay online and let it download overnight?
