I was curious as to how one starts a level already wearing the HEV suit. Not a transition from another level, but to have it at the begining of a totally new map. The only example I can think of off that top of my head is Opposing Force, or atleast I think the actual game started (in the osprey?) with the specific environment suit on.

Also, is there a way to make the suit not give updates, like when you take falling damage, it says "Major fracture detected - morphine administered"?
I've only noticed this occuring when you stick an env_suit in a map, pick it up, and proceed to do damage to yourself.

To have the HEV at the start, place it at the same spot as the info_player_start.

As for the HEV speech system, it can't be turned off, unless you play around a bit with the sentences.txt, wich means you'll have to make a mod then as other players won't have this modified file, and giving them this changed version will cause the speech system not to work in any HL map.

Well, the way I always do it is just by placing a HEV suit on top of the player spawn. I'd noticed the inconsistent medical warnings, but hadn't paid much attention to when they happened, so no ideas there, sorry.

Blue Shift started you off with the suit as the item_armorvest and item_armorhelmet act as batteries. Remember, in Opposing Force you had to collect your suit from the infirmary at the start. If you want to have the player wander along for a bit before they get the suit, just place the item_suit where they should get it from.

For future reference, there's a worldspawn flag I believe to start with an HEV suit. That, or the info_landmark has teh flag.

Blue Shift didn't start with the suit, there was just no suit in Blueshift. Coding. I've done it myself once, coding it so that the HUD always appeared, whether the player had the suit or not.

Hmm, I remember reading on VERC or something that you had to give the bshift player a suit so he could pick up the item_armorvests and item_armorhelmets.

As for the start with HEV flag, well, worldspawn doesn't have flags, lol, stupid me. I do remember somewhere in VHE there was a flag with the label "Start with HEV", or something, though.
