HG_ALERT0 hgrunt/(t30) squad!, we!(e80) got!(e80) freeman!(t20 p105), clik(p110)

Can someone translate this?

In a scripted_sentence, type !HG_ALERT0 in the Sentence Name space to use that sentence, e.g. 'Squad! We got Freeman! Kchk'...

HG_ALERT is the name of the sentence, the other words stand for the .wad files that the sentence exists of.

I think you mean .wav files Capn'P

The understanding problem I had was that a tutorial said the sentence name is on the far left & the corresponding wav file is on the same line and to the right.

The format above goes like this: HG_IDLE0 hgrunt/gr_idle1

HG_IDLE0 is the sentence name;
hgrunt/gr_idle1 is the wave filename;

The other example I had in the first post of this thread doesn't follow the above. What do the bracketed terms stand for?

They're timing and pitch-shift details for HL, as far as I can see.

I think the same, Seventh. Anyway, for us it isn't really anything to worry about, but if you do want to know what they stand for, feel free to experiment. As for the wav files, yes, it can be a serie of wav files.

There is a brilliant tutorial at Wavelength that goes into this in detail.
(They don't encourage linking, and I will respect that, but to point you in the right direction....)

Open Google and type this:

They don't encourage linking? That's kinda the whole principle of the WWW. Or do you mean deeplinking?

some ppl hate links to a page or whatever in their site.

oh...deeplinking lol...nvrmind

Getting off topic guy's, but the answer is that Google and Yahoo webcrawlers look at links as thier primary source of page collection. This can add substansial bandwidth loss to sites if they haven't protected themselves from the crawlers. I posted the thing about Wavelength not being happy about other sites linking their pages, so you were aware that some sites have that policy. Wavelength may have changed that policy since, but hey... I don't get there too often because I am too busy here these days :-)(ed: Andy)
