Is there any way to make a water filled barrel, I tried carving and hollowing a cilynder for room where the water should be, but it keeps giving me a brush error.

Probably because of the carving.

Take the steel pushable barrel prefab, turn it to world, hollow it, and then func_wall it if desired and add the water in the middle, which might need some clipping or VM to fit. .

Ok, thanks of the tip!

Although I tried hollowing as well, I know carving is a mortal sin as cosidered by most. :P

Hollowing isn't a great practice either, but its very handy in these sorts of situations.

I didn't have the steel pushable barrel prefab in the objects list.

How do I make one?

It's in the 'Crates' category.

If you still dont have it, just make a cylinder, then do the same as I described above.

When I was a newb mapper all I ever used where the block, hollow, and carve tools. OMG, I always got errors using carve and I didn't know how. All I use carve for is things that are square (Doors, rooms+hallways). Of course it suite's me right because on a few occasions I was trying to carve like 20 sided cylineders into a block and a couple of times into themselves at an angle... gee i was stupid.

Why not just use the arch tool, and then make a cylinder bottom.....

yeah grim.... i had a friend who wanted a circular room, and used a scaled up and hollowed ashtray prefab!!!

Lol....But hollow has its uses for getting bottoms of objects etc the right size quickly.

the ashtray has that ash crap in it so i dont know how that works out unless his making a deathmatch map based inside an ashtray now isnt that interesting

You can ungroup and take off the top bit of the ashtray. It's only two pieces, y'know. And it's a cylinder, just an 8 sided one ;) .

Arch tool is an idea, though it takes a fair deal of VM to get it to align to the cylinder shape to make the barrel bits on the bottom. It's easier to just hollow in this situation.
