Why is the HL1 editor not as cool as the source editor... the source one is so talented. I love how it retains one axis of the last brush drawn when I'm doing the next brush. If I just made one wall, and I want to make another one the same height, I just draw it on the x/z window and it retains the y value and position. Even the 3.5 beta or whatever it is doesn't do that. Plus I like how the source one shows the lengths of the sides. Well, I'll just hope someone at ValvE hears my pleas and saves the world.

I know, and you're actually right. If someone could make a patch upgrade for hammer it would be nice. But, there are several third party editors that perform tasks you can't normally do in hammer. Programs like terrain generators and the like. As far as measurements, you have to look at the bottem of the window and look at the dimensions.

I haven't done anything with the new hammer editor, but i've heard and read so much about it. I wish the same things. :|

I would have assumed VALVe learned from the annoyances in HL1 and changed them for their employees working on Source :)

I doubt they'll change VHE for HL1, it's becoming obsolete in their mind, probably :P
