404s for me too; not much you can do other than e-mail somebody there or ask somebody here to send you it.

Is it worth D/L and using over 3.4?
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-27 02:25:41 UTC Post #111097
Yes. You need the new FGDs though; they're on the VERC.

Well here is a one but it still dosen't make worse then 3.4-the models textures are sometimes changed to the nearst texture to them. That happend in 3x only with sprites! :|

And there is also a problem with the loading of a point file with in hammer!!!
Hammer generates like million of lines even if there is only one leak!!!
I had to search for the right one about an hour or so!

Well the problems are only with it's additions so it's still better!!! :)

Follow the line...

(How big is the line?)

--by the way, I'd use the brush method..
Cover one part of your map with a solid brush, If it still says you got a leak then the leak is obviously not in the brushes space, move the brush, now if it compiles, than you know where the leak is, now start making the brush smaller and smaller, until no narrowed down to the leak.

Sometimes this doesn't always work, as I come to learn with me latest project, but It's a start.

I use the pointfile in-game. I'm a fantastic leak-finder, if I do say so myself. ;)
Just ask Rabid and Trapt.

Not quite... ;)

Elon Yariv: Yes, that's an official bug. It's not really important (and it looks kinda cool too). As for the pointfile in Hammer, there's a particular colour you need to look out for. I think that it's red, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yep,the red one was also the right one!!! ;)
You are right it's better to search for the leaks ingame!
lol, wrong thread unbreakable :P
The big block is a way to find leaks! Here is a tutorial explaining on how to use it- http://www.gamedesign.net/node/303

Well, the other problem with the models is quite annoying! :x

That's how pointfiles work. If you really don't want to go through all of that, download LeakMarker and use it. It still might fail once in a while, but it's still a good tool.

The model problem is annoying, but hey, sometimes it looks cool when Gordon turns into a human vending machine  .

Where can I download this leakmarker?
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-27 10:55:18 UTC Post #111203
Its one line, just follow it from bleu to red, at a certain point it should go from void to your map at leak points.
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-27 11:34:38 UTC Post #111211
Yes, only that in my maps, usually, there are no leaks but when there is a leak it is usually smaller then 1 unit!!!So seeing the gap is almost impossible! :
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-28 04:06:25 UTC Post #111289
Then Look for "suspect" areas, places where you have angled walls, vertexes not on the grid etc. If a leek appeared after you've added a new area then its probably there.

They annoy, but thank your lucky hammers you don't get svc_bad errors :zonked:
Posted 18 years ago2005-05-28 06:28:13 UTC Post #111305
Thats what I did and it helped but if that program marks exactly where the leak is then it would save me alout of time searching for it!!! :)
