Is there a limit on the amount of sprites in a map.. because I want to create a picture of the gman with diferent color sprites showing each colored pixel... another words I got a picture containing 256 Unique colors, sooo, that would be 256 sprites...

Well, is there a problem with this, other than it will take forever to accomplish?

Why?

I'm pretty sure the limits are mentioned in a readme somewhere, or on Leak-free, zhlt.info or Tommy's.

well, I don't want to get half his face done to find out that I reached a limit.. and got to end it.. thats alot of work, I was thinking of using the move with function too make all 256 sprites fly in and make the picture of him.. it would be unreal.

Just put 256 generic sprites in the map and see if it runs.

There's an entity limit, so you'd probably have to limit the amount of sprites.

256 should still be within limits. I'm not sure what the maximum number of entities allowed in a map is but it's high enough that you should be able to make the g-man. Although it could hinder the number of entities you could place throughout the rest of the map.

This might come in handy:

Use -chart on all tools to see the limits. It'l point out how many entities you got in your map, what the limits is, how many models you have, etc, all in detail. It looks like this:

I've seen detailed limits for entities listed before. I think it was on Tommy's site somewhere.

I made the sprites scale: .04.. argh, path_corners, are going to be crowded..lol

Are you sure you can't just make an image in photoshop, and set the rendermore to additive??

Read the idea ? he wants to have the image fly. I think that'd be superb.

Maybe you should try it with 256 default small sprites.

It will be a nuisance if some of the sprites are slightly further apart and it could take ages!

I think the sprite limit is somewhere around 10000 before hl crashed horrible, though that was my error, i should have had the locus delete the sprites.

Using Sprite viewer (which is a program)
You can download it by searching it on google.

ya you'll also need Sprite Wizard to put the pics in order, and save as a sprite.

if you use particles (the ones used to find leaks) you can have around 20000 of them. you'll need spririt to do it tho.

I tried to make a "matrix" style pillar where it was made up of little 4x4 breakable cubes, the map wouldn't compile, unless there were like only a couple hundred.

Wow VOX, that's an interesting new spin on an old Idea...very interesting!

It definitely should have compiled though, have you seen J3r3my's compo map?

He had to have thousands of individual blocks in that thing!
