A pointfile is a file that is generated by the compilers when a leak is found in your map. The points trace a line around the outside of the map geometry and at the location of the leak, moves to the insides of the map or otherwise the source of the leak (in case of entities being outside the map).

You can load a pointfile into the map editor (e.g. Hammer or J.A.C.K.) and see the points. Additionally, on a failed compile, the editors are usually configured to automatically load the pointfile.

Point files have been superseded by line files, which traces lines instead.
