A motherboard upgrade usually happens because of a CPU upgrade - CPU manufacturers (especially Intel) love to change their socket every couple of years. If you do a CPU upgrade, double and triple check the socket of the new one and your current one to see if you need a new motherboard or not. RAM slots change pretty quickly too (they're up to DDR4 now I think).

Older motherboard chipsets also might not support certain newer CPUs even if the socket is the same - if you're upgrading the CPU, find the compatibility tables on your motherboard model to make sure that the new CPU is compatible. Sometimes the vendor provides a BIOS update that adds compatibility, but sometimes you need a new one. (GPU updates can be the same, but your GPU should be okay for a few more years.)

Also, going by your edit: get yeself an SSD!

A quick google of "what is my motherboard" gave me the information I needed to figure out what I got. Added it to that list.

Motherboard basically just reigns all the other components together and provides the ports you need, right? What circumstances would require upgrading the motherboard (apart from new, incompatible components)?
Commented 7 years ago2017-05-31 04:02:17 UTC in journal: Updates Comment #52986
CPU-Z will tell you your motherboard as well as a bunch of other things.
Make sure your temperatures are within reasonable limits, and that you clean your system of dust often (weekly or in the very least monthly).
If dust builds up it can not only slow your system but even kill components from the heat.
You can use MSI afterburner and enable the OSD, or what I prefer is to use HWInfo64 and RivaTuner Statistics Server to monitor temp.

Hmm, I'd probably do something like:
  • If you don't have an SSD, get one and put your OS on it
  • Try reformatting to see if a clean install helps
  • Go for 16GB RAM
  • New CPU (may require a new motherboard too...)
I don't really know a good way to find the motherboard model, usually I just open the box and look for the model number printed on there somewhere.

I go away from Vkontakte for 10-20 days and don't get even a single message from anyone. No friend requsets as well, but that's rather good than bad.
What can I say... You're a lucky.

Uhh... I go away from Facebook for 1 day, and:
10 friend requests,
2 messages,
53 notifications,
9 more likes on my cover photo,
30 more likes on my new profile photo.

But I'm there just for business, man...
Speaking of that business, it's basically getting more info about the high school. XD

High-school me would certainly be surprised at this result. I used to be super introverted.
Only one I'm not sure about is Nature. I'd always considered myself more of a thinker than a feeler.

This will change with my age. There's a difference between:
  • The 11-year-old me (the one even I don't know any more)
  • The 12-year-old me (the one you'll never know)
  • The 13-year-old me
  • The 14-year-old me
  • The 15-year-old me
Essentially, my personality was changing a lot during those years. I think that going to high school will have an impact there, too.

There are no wrong MBTI test, just that the one you've taken is one of the better. These tests don't show who you really are, but they can be right in some places. Or like in my case, literally nail it. My MBTI is INTJ-A...

This may change for you with age yet.

My personality type is most probably unable to be determined, because I have different sets of everything, but I'll take one.

I didn't even know that there were any, but I could've assumed. :P

And music tastes? Ever heard of the Bosnian War, part of the Yugoslav Wars? Basically, Bosnian Serbs from the Republic of Srpska (which was an entity in BiH) attacked the Federation of BiH, while being supplied by the Yugoslavian, I mean Serbian army (because the only things left of Yugoslavia were Serbia and Montenegro).

Basically, those songs are mostly "chetnik" songs, and my teacher hates Chetniks. I blame nationalistic ideas and religion for all of this mess.

Language classes start from 0 at high schools, or students write an exam that determines it. Four years ago when I started technical I had both English and German from 0, even though I had like 100% score from English junior high finals.

Your music tastes shouldn't be a concern of your ex-teacher or anyone. Congrats on graduating!

Ever considered an MBTI personality test? You can find some of them free in the web. Just curious what personality type may have...

So, yesterday was Monday, my last day of elementary school.
TL;DR

I found out that 90% votes were for Turkish in my class, because the parents (the ones who actually voted) were talked into voting for it.

Then I'm afraid of having to learn German from 0 because German in high school will have high school lessons and won't have us learn the basics.

It turns out that we might learn the basics of German in high school. :D

I found out lots of info I should've found out. I also retrieved my bag which contained 2 folders with A3 paper sheets and equipment for art class (brushes etc.). That's something I had left in school in Thursday. :3

Having found out some info, let's see why I really learned Turkish in elementary.
It weren't me and my classmates who had voted. Our parents had. Most of them would vote for German, but some Turks went ahead and talked about how nice it is to learn Turkish and how 'good' it is. We were promised a backpack and a pencil case (for free) and a yearly trip to Zenica.

My mom accidentally missed the parents' meeting class in 6th grade that day, so we lost 1 vote for German. Regardless, Turkish would've won with over 90% votes. >:(

Basically, those parents were talked into voting for Turkish! It's not my fault. When I say "I had to learn Turkish in elementary school." everyone asks me "Why did you choose Turkish? You should've voted for German!" I decide to raise my tone a little bit and say "It's not me who wanted Turkish. It's my classmates." and then I tell the whole story over again.

I actually remember ^that^ happening in the ShoutBOX once, when somebody asked me why I'm learning Turkish. Then someone said "Probably because he lives in a country close to Turkey or lives in Turkey." something like that...

Now that I have this new piece of info, everything makes more sense. Parents being talked into voting for Turkish, just because of business.

Now, I won't say "Turkish is a bad language." No. It's an OK language and it's a bit cool. But for me, there are no pracical reasons to use it unless you're moving to Turkey (which I'm not) and/or you want to chat with Turks (I actually know 2 people from Turkey, they're good guys).

And the promises? The school's director got a free trip to Turkey, we got our yearly trip to Zenica and we got the very low-quality backpacks and pencil cases. Totally not worth it!
Let's think about what happens next:

German will wait for me in high school. However, I'm worried that it will treat me as if I had German in elementary school, i.e. we will have high school lessons. Well, I'm not worried any more.

Remember how I said that I had found out info I should've found out?
Well, my class teacher told me that elementary-school lessons in German are revised upon in high school (thank God). If that turns out to be true, then I'm safe and sound. :)
So yeah, I am very fond of what I had discovered that day. Though, my class teacher isn't. She discovered about me listening to Serbian war songs. Darn.

The ETS in Mostar will perhaps be the only reason for me to use Facebook, lol. Just for business (let's call it that way), and not for socialising.
Facebook isn't the type of platform where my content gets any attention at all. That's what GameBanana, TWHL, ModDB, QuakeOne and CryMods are for.

My "friends" just chat and share selfies. :P
In fact, I think I left Facebook just because of my classmates. I guess it was better that way.

@Jessie
"my Facebook friends list is a highly curated environment"
Hmm, good idea, maybe I should also filter my friends list and remove the unnecessary individuals. Oh yeah, the cleansing will begin...

When I think about it, I have around 30 unnecessary friends because I once had 70 friends and now I have 105 friends. I'll just have to keep that number low and control it. :|

I use Facebook because the people I know and care about also use it and thus it is a convenient way of communicating with them. I have no strong feelings either way about it.

Also, NineTnine, my Facebook friends list is a highly curated environment, as is any list of people I associate with on any platform, including Steam. Your removal was not due to any personal matter, but was simply part of a cleansing of those I do not (or, in some other cases, do not wish to) regularly communicate with. If you wish to get in touch, I am available via PM or ShoutBOX here at TWHL. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I treat Facebook like a necessary evil and provide only the basic info on there, like name, last name, updated profile picture, education and means of contact. Nothing more or less.

I highly prefer emails or Skype over Facebook and it's messenger.

I started the journal as a simple over-explanation and now it turned into ShoutBOX 456.

Yeah, 'ShoutBOX 456' because of my username: Admer456.
It's just like the regular ShoutBOX, except you have additional features like shouts being saved and accessible at all times, and you can make very long shouts, as well as editing them. We have 109 shouts so far. :3

Hmm, speaking of this new wave of feminism:
South-Slavs are conservative (and stubborn, lol) (maybe except Croats), and that's why there are no such new (stupid) things or movements in my country. If there were any, I'm sure they would get a bad reputation.

Phew. :)
Of course, we're technologically left behind, but that's because of another reason which is related to our stubborn nature.
