I bought a 3d printer a few weeks ago.
I've actually been using it to make a small scale dehumidifier, as PLA filament absorbs moisture surprisingly quickly.

I got it with the intention of making mechanical devices, but so far I haven't actually had the time to do any of that.

I put a rat in every one of my death match maps - sometimes two looking at each other from far across the map.

What is your latest weird purchase?
My dignity. Still trying to pay it even though it's almost worthless...

Thanks, guys!

Totally agree, Striker! My first cut had far more scene geography, but the client wanted it all close up action. Oh well.

New one coming out tomorrow with Ken Block

The aesthetic of the opening scene is really jaw-dropping. I don't know if I'm permitted to have a critical reaction to this, I imagine how difficult it is to set up such a shoot, with those expensive assets and what not, but for some reason my mind was a bit dissatisfied with the constant focus on the details (the shots at the bigger focal length). It disorients me not having enough visual detail of the environment and subtracts from the action feeling.
But given the under 24 hours of work put into this, my critical reaction is totally destroyed.
It's just awesome that you're starting to have such film&editing opportunities. Cheers!

Nice work, and you managed to complete the entire thing in under 24 hours total? That is super impressive!

Also personally I don't really care if it's "relevant" to gaming or not - If you're proud of a project you've worked on and you have the ability to post the finished result or some behind the scenes photos of the shoot, please feel free to post them. I've always enjoyed seeing these kinds of journals from you.

Hey, you're that guy with the thing!

That was really well done. I'm no expert, but the grading and editing was smooth, and I like the transition to game footage. Lots of people in the comments seem to like it, too. That would've of been a cool shoot, you must having fun.

Thanks for the feedback. It has 32 slots. I originally didn't make the map for gameplay purposes. I wanted to design a A frame house so decided to make it into a playable map so gameplay wasn't number one. Yea I should have fixed those tree textures but oh well. For the secret, you just have to be quick with it.

I bought a japanese pull hand saw because i'm sick of the western push style crappy ones and i'm too cheap to buy a proper table saw / circular saw.

That and i bought a custom wrench to fit on one of my guitars because OF COURSE THEY NEED A CUSTOM TOOL TO ADJUST THE NECK. shakes fist at Jackson Guitar Company

A really nice looking map (though, there's still a lot of visible blue in those tree textures). I couldn't figure out how to open the secret (even though I spotted the "clues"). How many spawns are on this map? I would recommend it to be added to my clan's server but it's gotta have 32 spawns (possibly just 30 but I think the PTB team switch plugin sometimes kills people without that 16th spawn on each side).

One other thing I would like to note though is that there is more area behind one spawn than the other, which might encourage players to hide back there. It is fun to see an asymmetric fy map, though.

I don't really do unusual purchases these days. It's either gaming related or buying or replacing something functional for the house. Not sure if missing out or just becoming one of these "adults" I hear so much about...
Commented 6 years ago2018-09-24 22:46:46 UTC in journal: So I just bought a dehumidifier. Comment #101527
Dehumidifiers are useful, just don't forget to empty the water bins (And maybe put the contents into the water tanks for your humidifier to use come winter, if you have one of those as well)

As for strange purchases...
I haven't actually bought anything that isn't food for a while now, so I dunno.

Don't worry, man. I'm going to an electrical engineering school, and I've got to get to the bus every morning and travel 40km to get there, and 40km back.

At first, I thought it would be impossible for someone like me, but fortunately, I was wrong. I got used to it. I'm no longer nervous because I know I'm on a good path. ^^

Good luck to you. I'm sure you'll make it. Just take care of yourself and study well.

Well when I entered the test chamber, I think there was a trigger_autosave, but since I triggered the nuke as well before it might've been that I've died right after triggering the autosave? Which would then result in a loop.

What do you mean autosave/loading loop? Did the map load a saved game?

I have yet to finish it, but what I played so far was awesome.

Though I was able to bug out one of the test chambers, not sure which one it was, but it included the option to nuke any lives remaining, when you then jump into the new chamber it just triggers an autosave/loading loop?

Edit: Okay finished it. The last round was pretty tough, not sure if it's just me. Once you got the egon I had to hide in a corner basically because I only had like 30hp left, so one strike from a vort and I'd be dead.

Those screenshots don't really show it off to well unless you show a detail-less comparison shot.
