well, I wanted to give the people somewhere to sit while they waited for the elevator to the "real" part of the map to return.

You put the wrong .bsp in the zip file, it's an unlit version.
did I really? oops. sorry.
The part with the couches is a "waiting room" so to speak. the real level will be far below, and because this is sp, there'll probably be a map change somewhere in there. (you'lll see.) the "entrance" is the helipad, but like you said, a road would be good. I'm in the process of fixing the skybox problem, and i'm glad you could actually tell that those things were solar panels!

aaatrigger? i don't remember using that at all... maybe i don't remember. oh yeah, and the train is (was) supposed to go to one end, wait, return to the other end... (multiplayer.)

to get lighting exactly the way you want it, use the light entity (as well as "light" textures) I can't dl it now, but looks like fun!

because i'm adding more tunnel there... later on when i get around to it. Sorry if i sound like a slacker, but I'm devoting more time to school than mapping!

Updated! it's starting to look like something now.
For those of you who are rather picky, I compiled it with zoner's tools, its fullbright because there is a train-sized leak at one end and i didn't bother to fix it yet.

Commented 18 years ago2005-08-30 14:25:54 UTC in vault item: Elevator Comment #8783
i don't have time to dl it, but if you just have a really simple elevator (2 positions, up and down) then try using a func_plat.
Commented 18 years ago2005-08-30 14:22:48 UTC in vault item: Trigger_Push Function Comment #8782
in hl, you do need to have a minimum speed of >800, as that is the default gravity. For a medium speed push, 840 seems to work well.

And make sure to set the direction with the compass.

good map! I have only a few comments:

-fix the lighting. When I compiled the map, it looked fullbright. (no leaks, though! good job!)
-Textures. You used about 3?maybe? add some more variety.
-Make it bigger.
-and add weapons (duh)

Otherwise, its a very good start for a multiplayer map.

Pretty good, but incredibly confusing. Took me 2-3 tries just to figure out what to do after the part with the grunts!
