Yeah there are a handful of those. But I always forget to download them :P

Still, I shouldn't be actively working to prevent it, I should be the one making it happen.

That said, why does the first screenshot look like... Linux?

Yeah they pulled a few other tricks before: First it was [Upgrade now] and [Upgrade later]. Then it became [Upgrade now] and [Upgrade tonight].

I never clicked either and made sure there wasn't an "opt out" option anywhere before X'ing out. Until it scheduled itself anyway because fuck you and what you want your own computer to do, right?

I agree Windows XP was great for its time. Now, however, it's fifteen years old and obsolete. Windows 95 was also great for its time, and nobody in their right mind would use it anymore.

W7 is fantastic and probably the best version so far, but I'm not going to hold on to it as if it were the last operating system in the world if a better one comes along. I mean a proper one. It WILL be obsolete eventually, so if this goes on I'll just move over to Linux after a few years. By that time, I'll probably have a new computer too so the old one will keep W7.

@ssy: This is Windows 7 Home Premium.

@Admer: Yeah that's what I did. I'm just pissed that it keeps insisting.

@Loulimi: I'm getting off easy. There's plenty of people on the internet that are really pissed because it straight up updated without notice. Rolling back isn't quite as easy as Microsoft claims and often enough problems crop up that brick people's computers and they end up with neither OS.

@Striker: I agree with you on everything, especially point 3. I'd have moved over to Linux long ago if I didn't need to use Windows-only software like AutoCAD, 3DS max, the Adobe suite, etc. I'd have to run them in a VM, which means I'd still have to use Windows.

What pisses me off the most is that they're trying to shove it down my throat. It's MY computer and whatever happens to it is up to ME.

It's terrifying how many people consider facebook a good file management platform. I've worked with people in the past that had only used facebook for their file sharing needs, and a very brief description of Dropbox was more than enough for them to realise the mess they were doing before.

Not all of our teachers are like this. Most are well acquainted with the concept of email and send people the right attachments, some even upload course files to a blog or something. There also are, of course, the handful of overdoers that require students to follow them on facebook, twitter and pinterest because they're so cool they upload all the important class things there. Those I hate too.

Just learned something new. However my question still applies:

How can you put a unit of measurement [of money] in a DVD-ROM?

[edit]Wait you mean the drive? Putting bank notes in the drive? Lovely. Sadly ATM service hasn't yet reached the home PC market.

If you follow that process for mapping, you should do other things that way too:

Textures: InkScape > Adobe Illustrator > Corel Draw > Gimp > Adobe Photoshop > Paint.net > Wally
Models: AutoCAD > 3DS Max > Rhino 3D > Blender > Maya

As for the map, if this clips world geometry because it isn't an entity, you could always leave a 1-unit wide gap between it and the world.

I AM very used to my keyboard :P

Striker, autocorrect is an integral part of T9. And with the grip I use on my phone, I only use one hand to write.
Commented 8 years ago2016-03-14 02:17:32 UTC in journal: #8679 Comment #62827
QWERTY is not an improvement. There's a lot of energy to be invested in more hand movements.

Who talked about hardware? On-screen keyboards are entirely software :P

Swiftkey feels weird and I don't like the level of system permissions it needs. It also doesn't have T9 mode. I might try it sometime, but I'm not too convinced.

Maybe I'll have to roll out my own...

It says right there, only Steam credit and actual purchases. AKA only money being spent by me. While the 30-day minimum makes sense, I don't quite understand the one-year limit.

It's pretty curious though that the entirety of Steam games I got in over a year were gifts.

It's called Don Web. It was recommended by a friend years ago, they have pretty good features for a price that's affordable for a low-income person like myself (some $30/yr as opposed to actually reputable hosts like Dreamhost that cost closer to $100/yr). But I guess it's still my fault for hiring a cheap ass host from South America. At least I'm not hosting anything particularly critical.
