DiscoStu, if you define 7 in a constant the its fine. Dont randomly use it around without atleast putting down a comment. I would still shoot you down for that in a code review though :).

Happy Birthday!

And to add to what Atom said, a few commercial initiatives are looking very promising. They can probably carry bigger payloads at a cheaper price to LEO. In that regard the space shuttle kinda missed its mark due to changing goals when it was completed. There is a reason the Russians gutted the Buran's(Three of em, 1 flew without humans) in the middle of the program.

If you got the unity 3d webplayer you can play the promo game here:

http://suckerpunchmovie.warnerbros.com/game/

A classmate of mine worked on that game during his internship, the visuals look pretty cool for a webgame.(he did 3d and 2d)

As Habboi explained the UDK is a streamlined process for the U3 engine. Quite nice, although the scripting is rather weak, you have kismet for the levels themself, and a dedicated scripting language called Unreal script for the stuff that is a level lower.

Habboi: What UDK version are you using? Latest n gratest or sticking with a stable version?

Apple never had anything to do with it except for providing the platform.

Unity is very nice, but it lacks a good structure which can become quite frustrating when trying to program for it. I prefer XNA/flash over Unity.

Well. We still lack good support for 64 bit systems. We got 128 coming up, and now so many cores. About time the OS dev's kick it up a notch and give us full support.

You can actually use this in many engines like the Ogre engine. Although i wonder if it would be possible to write a shader for the Half-Life engine. Would be pretty cool.

@Muzz LOL!

unb: its just a GI light with the standard raytracer dropped in. Although it is very powerfull, i doubt it differs a lot compared to maya.

here is what im aiming for texture-wise:

Im also working with a few talented skinners so i might leave that job to them.

UT3 also has a largely brush based design combined with models. heck, the UT3 editor isnt that far of concerning design techniques from the source engine. It is just able to handle open spaces a lot better.

Also, if you look at the tools naming in the UT3 editor you see CSG/BSP substract etc.

EDIT: Anyone remember this DM game that had a ingame multiplayer editor a few years back? Cant remember the name but i was it again recently.

Well, everyone i have spoken, also specialists in the industry regard 2009 as one of the worst 3dsm version. My laptop and computer dont like it, neither do the computers at school, especialy the old ones. And i have heard a few people switched to 2010 asap.

3Dstudiomax 2009, and yes its a instable piece o shite. Lets hope there setting our machine's up with 2010 next semester.

Offcourse i will release it, although i doubt you can do a lot with a WWII russian tank in the HL2 setting. You could do something with a long forgotten WWII factory that the combine are reusing again, i suppose.

I heard a person from a health and virus instution talking about how this virus slightly resembled a active virus from the 50's and therefore older people appeared to have a basic resistence against this virus.

Its interesting to see how a virus spread, i wonder if someone has already put all the images of the spread in a time-line?

You are correct Rim, but it appears the Swish enjoy keeping there trains shiny, and admittingly, i have seen these locs driving around shining and blinding people quite often. Also note that European locs are being washed and cleaned quite often. I know the NS locomotives need to go to revision every 3 months anyway.

You got what you pay for i suppose ^_^. Oh well, everyone has those moments, remember, you probably wont repeat this again for a important event.

I once overstayed to long on the skydive club, and drunk a few beers to many, after travelling home(which takes 2 hours) i crashed in bed, about 4 hours before i had to get up, when i woke up at 5.30 in the morning i still felt half gone, and the day would still last up to 18.45 before i would be home again. Not something you should do often!

Yes indeed. Most studio's have there own render farm, managed by a qeueu manager that tells what machine to render what part of what effect, some scenes in movies that look like one part have been rendered in serval parts with the help of alpha's.

The PS3 is a fantastic machine for rendering, the Xbox is also used a lot for these tasks.

Im working on setting up my own render farm with a few old machine to spread to workload from my laptop and main rig. Right how its rendering a test pan around with 250 frames, lens effects and volumetric light effects. It has been rendering for over a hour now and still has about 30 minutes to go.

Render programs are getting smarter and smarter, there managing the load from serval objects themselves, lights and reflections that do not change do not need to be calculated again. Although this is still far from ideal. I reckon the total animation im working on will take somewhere between 36 and 48 hours to render, depending on the amount of machines used and the raytracing options.

I would always spend my summer vacation on the farm from friends, they can a camping site there. I was always up as first in the morning, so i usually got the chance to ride on the tractor to the far side of the property, was always fun as a little kid.

Heh, i usually set a fire, then shoot a couple of them, set a few more fires, and watch the whole place go down in a see of flames. any remaining troops will be either picked off up close with a silenced tokarev, or a distance shot with the 1903 sniper.

I love this game so far, really enjoy exploring the landscape.

@Satch. Wow, just wow.

Btw, am i the only one that feels that this game is heavily inspired by the Jason Bourne series from Robert Ludlum? And im talking about the books here, not the slightly crappy movies.

I think so to. So far, this has been the only game where i killed someone when it wasnt needed, and i felt semi-bad about it. I mean, he could have radioded those isreali commando's our trap so.. Seemed like a friendly guy though, he took the knife well. And hey, its not like he could have expected to survive after seeing a RPG hitting his villa!..

Anyway, really immersed in the story, i like the choices you can make.

mycom.nl Pretty good service!

AoC... What can i say, everyone in my clan thinks they should roll back to the previous version. Even the beta testers think so. I dont get as much fun out of it as i used to. i was pretty good as a man at arms with another mate, we could fend of the enemy team for as long as we wished. Nowadays, im more into archery, reporting activity and softening up the targets so the knights and footman can finish them off.
