As much as I am interested in Fallout 4, I don't like the fact that my YouTube feed now contains nothing else. I'd rather experience the game myself when I get the chance to play it than watch other people do so.

As far as I know Stu, the technology was developed for rapid prototyping of designs. So you can make a part and see if it does what it's supposed to in less than a day, as opposed to having to make it by traditional means. The recent idea of using 3D printed parts as finished components isn't really what they were designed for, as the printed parts tend to not be as strong as parts injection moulded or machined out of the same material.
That being said, for small, cheap, one-off components they are pretty useful. As an example within the next few weeks I'm going to have to get some parts printed which will be used in a model aircraft. I'm going to have to get test pieces printed off next week to see what glues are the best as well.

Stu, if you can get TWHL to display that in base two then you can certainly compete.
And as for my free time, I don't really have much of it so the fact that I spent what little I had making that spinning Bateman gif is probably kind of sad.

Next year, both TWHL doctors will be stripped of their title for medical malpractice. As it turns out, just adding 'Dr.' to your username doesn't actually give you the abilities of a real doctor.
Satchmo escapes this fate by the skin of his teeth due to a little known loophole, because instead of attaching the title to his online persona, he instead attached it to his real world identity by attending medical school.

It's probably better that you hadn't revealed your plan, as it seems the Dangerously Intelligent Meme Bot for Assessing Ritten Kontent has discovered the trail of breadcrumbs. It has notified Penguinboy, who has unleashed the next phase of his operation, the Dastardly Inhuman Member Breaker which Erases And Kills.
As you can see from the name of the first iteration, PB has atrocious spelling. Now that the hunt has begun, we can only hope that his spelling mistakes have extended to the code that governs it. If all goes well, D.I.M.B.E.A.K. will encounter a fatal error and shut down.

[Edit] Apparently Potatis is four days older than me. Also, it was only upon trying to figure that out that I realised I wasn't even sure whether I'm 22 or 23. It goes to show how little I get out when the last time I had to think about my own age was probably four or five years ago.

In my personal life I would certainly work towards becoming a pilot. If I am truly unconstrained by money, therearemanyweirdandwonderfulaircraftofwhichIwouldliketoseereproductionsmade. As for how I would spend most of my time, I would probably do a combination of working for NASA or a similar entity, and doing what I'm doing now.

I hadn't put up any pictures of Belfast until now, as I only took a few and I was waiting for my brother to give me some of the ones that he had taken. He never got around to it, and he's on his way to Australia with my dad right now, so I'll just have to link to the pictures that I took. The third photo in that album is a street covered in murals. There are ones like it all over Belfast. That one was in a catholic area, but there are murals in the protestant areas too.
I've spent a few summers in Mayo myself as well. My friend has a house there, near Ballycastle, where I'd often spend a few weeks each year. More recently than that my aunt bought a house in Westport, so I've spent a few days there. I live on the west coast as well, in north Clare. It is a nice looking country, if you don't mind the cloudy skies as much as I do.

Normally I would wait for a few months to hear what people think of it, but my current computer is owned by my university so for all I know they might be updating their systems and force me to change. Or they might not, until I get a computer that's actually mine I won't have a choice in the matter. And while the Windows 7 volume mixer is useful, it would be better if there was a way to change which programs use which outputs from the mixer. I've occasionally had problems in the past where a program will use the wrong output and it's not obvious how to change it. For example a program might sometimes play through the speakers instead of the headphones.

I've wanted to watch Planetes for a long time, but I couldn't find any way to watch it unless I wanted to shell out a few hundred for a DVD box set. While I would prefer to watch things legally and in a way that benefits the creators, that's not an amount I would be prepared to spend. It was a long time ago that I looked into it, so I will have to have another look during the summer.

Kind of, kind of not. I think it's one of those things where in general it's understood, but the specifics of exactly how it happens aren't, unless you study that kind of thing. Probably. Honestly I don't think it's ever actually come up in my course, surprisingly.

Pretty cool that, I've never seen it before. If that's caused by what I think, then that could be a pretty effective proof that Bernoulli's principle is one of the components of lift generation of a wing. I've seen some people vehemently deny that it's in any way related.
[Edit] Also, look at how much the wings droop when the spoilers open at around 35 seconds into the video. When they open the wings generate significantly less lift so they start to droop under their own weight. It shows just how much lift force they have to generate to lift the aircraft up.

I like that idea. Also, I like the idea of this map, but not the execution. I find myself extremely surprised by the degradation of Urby's skills since 1999. The older portion of the map was fantastic, especially considering it's age, with varied lighting and intricate detailing that made the map feel alive. The remade portion however, I was shocked by. Urby, who supposedly is an experienced mapper, making such obvious mistakes as sticking a pointlight in a room with no source, or having a thick metal blast door get broken by a single hit with a crowbar? I am vicariously ashamed, and frankly I interpret this upload as a cry for help. Urby probably did this because slitting his wrists in a bathroom or overdosing on over the counter painkillers would likely go unnoticed by us as we only know him through the internet.
But seriously, it was good. Probably the only real flaw in the newer version was the fact that as a location in a building the ichthyosaur pool didn't make much sense. Apart from the underwater bits, there was only one entrance to this large area. The older portion, I won't offer any serious critique of.

A little over eight years for me. I didn't realise until now how close to you guys I joined. I always felt like the older members had been around for years and years, and I've just found out that I joined less than two years after Daubster. Mind blown.
Also, from looking through other members profiles, Strider's 11th anniversary is tomorrow.

After being reminded of early member embarrassment, I decided to try and find the first thing I ever posted. I believe it was this. Surprisingly not embarrassing, although some of my posts I found along the way certainly were.
Also, looking through the old threads I found this.*
I find myself wondering whether such a thread nowadays would have the same reaction.
*NSFW since one of the three images in that thread that still even loads is NSFW

Congratumalations! I gave it a quick look over, I'll probably log onto the server on the weekend and have a go.
I agree with Kachito about the colours at CT spawn, but I quite liked the T spawn area. Something about it really reminded me of the underground areas in Gears of War 2. I personally didn't like the xen textures in some of the places, but they did fit it. They just seemed a little too stretched out imho, although that impression may have had just as much to do with the texture choice as it does the scale. Overall I quite liked it though. Also I will leave it until I get a chance to playtest before rating it.

If I remember correctly you can do something similar in Half-Life before the disaster, if you use impulse 101 to acquire weapons. It's quite funny to shoot them as they're walking from one place to the next, and they continue walking, look at a piece of machinery, then suddenly die.

I can't take this computer apart as officially it isn't mine, however in the past I have had to take my girlfriend's apart as she was getting warnings about overheating, and it would shut itself down sometimes. Lodged in between the fan and the heatsink I found a block of cat hair, probably about 2cm thick, which had formed into a solid and impermeable block of felt. It turned out she had been leaving it on overnight, and her cat would sleep on it because it was warm. As horrifying as that was, it was very satisfying to take all that out and get the thing working again.
I can't even fathom having that much resolution.
Are they by any chance based off this painting? It's the first thing that came to mind when I saw that screenshot.
