Yeah, sounds like your computer just really really sucks. Complaining that a Half-Life mod is bad because it's too graphics intensive would be understandable if it was 1999, but it's not. At least you aren't really blaming the modders.

Guys, I KNOW manual is better. This wasn't about me hating manuals, it's about me not wanting to make my driving test unnecessarily hard by using one.
Livewire: No it's not the same, God bless 'murica
Masta Killa: That doesn't even make sense, that's the exact situation where automatics are easier in. There's nothing painful about driving auto.
Penguinboy: As usual, a douche. This time, not even an educated one, but you're right that most people have no need for manual. Go take your train.
Yodalman: They're not identical in the least, although if you aren't driving fast and you don't know how they work internally you'd be hard pressed to find a difference.

Awesome. Wish I had my own computer when I was that young. Actually, I remember my dad traded a push mower for some sort of beige-box green-screen machine when I was around 4 years old, but he never set it up because it was basically useless for us. I had fun on our word processor though.

What the hell would you do with a pilots license, seriously? I can't afford a plane, and any occasional use would be for mere leisure. Anyway, you'd still have to ride your bike to the airfield.

Tetsu0, this was the on-the-road test. I don't know about where you live, but here the only written test you take is to get your permit to practice on. I failed that the first time, but that was a long time ago.
Before the test started, the instructor was already pissed off. My dad had left a crucial form on the table at home, and the woman was being a bitch and refused to accept his out of state driver's license as valid (you can pick whatever state you want as your residence when you're in the military.) So that didn't go too smoothly, and then we rushed back home to pick up the missing form and get a signature from my mom, who is registered in-state. We got back ten minutes late to the appointment, and ended up having to wait another fifteen for the next people to go before us.
So I was a nervous wreck at this point, and ended up taking a left in front of oncoming traffic at an intersection and got honked at. Also, apparently I was speeding on an unmarked road she deemed to be 25MPH, so that didn't help. I didn't have a bunch of little errors a lot of people seem to be failed for. But two critical ones.

Goly gee wiz, thanks for the glowing review. No, I didn't use HLFix for this , as I wasn't aware of its existence at the time. I don't remember really, but I think this was the first or second compile of this map. I just gave up after seeing how wonky it looked after it compiled. It really wasn't as huge of an endeavor as it seems just looking at it. I completed the brushwork in some two days. With that in mind, I doubt I really did that much for the lighting at all, except probably full RAD and some other trivial settings, but I didn't use any smoothing effects.
Oh, and I just realized I didn't include all the textures needed to compile. Two or three are in the Poke646 WAD. Oh well.

Eh, better to be intrinsically stupid.
But seriously, I don't get it. Why would anybody make a daycare that's hard to get into? Aren't they just killing off potential customers that way? And if the daycare is hard to get into, why would you even bother? Just because the application process is difficult doesn't mean it's more worthwhile than some other place. It's ridiculous you should have to impress anyone to get your child into a friggin' daycare center of all places.
Now, I also think it's extremely presumptuous for every member here to form an opinion on Satch's parenting methods and criticize him for them, as if they could do a better job themselves. However at the same time, people like Saw have a really good point. Everything he's said so far leads you directly to the assumption that he's attempting a science experiment with his child to turn him into the most prestigious mind of the 21st century. That was a fun joke before it was a serious possibility.
Meh, not trying to step on any toes, just musing really.

NineTnine, don't be a douche. I'm not trying to "customize" anything. I bet you figured I'd throw a body kit and some 20" chrome rims on it, huh? I buy old cars because I enjoy working on them, but you don't have to.
Captain T, He sold the CRX because we already had two other vehicles and there were many years between me and my license at the time. And yeah, I can get you a copy of that RMF.
Oh, and by the way, I found out today there's nothing serious wrong with the engine, just some basic maintenance that needs to be done and a new muffler.

Holy crap Captain Terror, that was my first project ever, an '85 Honda CRX. I was 13 at the time, and my dad ended up doing a lot of the work and then sold it, but that was what got me into all of this. That thing got like 40 MPG easy, but some parts were NOT cheap on the first gens. I made this detail model of it in Hammer after we were done.
Oh and saw, like I said in my journal, it sounds to me like it's got some nasty piston slap, but I could be totally wrong. Other than that, the fuel filter and possibly the catalytic converter are clogged.

Urby: I'll post progress very rarely maybe, but I'd feel kinda stupid showing regular updates about a project car on a mapping site. I'm probably going to have info accompanying the images I post on my Flickr account.
saw: The interior's actually pretty trashed, if you could see it for real. not awful, but it at least needs a cleaning.
Tetsu0: I'm into modifying cars for performance and all, but I'm kind of thinking about keeping this close to stock. If I can get it running good, I'm just going to wait around until I have some place to start working on a REAL project car. Old school American built stuff is my real interest. I just can't afford that right now, and I'd rather be able to get to school/maintain a job in the meantime.

I haven't actually looked at how you did this, but why is Spirit necessary? I can think off the top of my head the couple entities I'd need to make it work in regular 'ol Goldsrc. I'm probably missing something, as I've never used Spirit.
So is the forum index search used to search the titles? Or has that existed all along and contained some functionality I am totally unaware of? Because the index still takes 5 minutes to search. And when you get the results, they aren't even at all related to what you searched for.

At first I thought this would have something to do with furries. Then I clicked on it, and I was disappointed.
Also Jeff, that's a clever idea but it must not be a very successful virus. I'd immediately notice if my fans went off all of a sudden, it'd be blissful.

How can you NOT think Myst is boring and slow? It's an on-rails adventure with still images. Brains have nothing to do with it, let's all just grow some patience.

Myst sucks so much. I actually got it working in Windows XP and promptly uninstalled it after realizing what a shit game it really is. It didn't even function properly. But hey, plenty of people love it.
Good deals you got there, by the way. There are so many old PS2 games out there that I never got to play at the time, it's a shame now because I've forgotten about most of them, and now they're all cheap. Now you've got to find time to play all those.

You forgot to mention sheeple though. You can tell real conspiracy theorists from the pretenders by how many times they manage to use "sheeple" in one paragraph.

I had actually promised myself to someday make a horror mod that opposed every conceivable horror mod cliche out there. It would be set entirely in the day, have light violence and no gratuitous gore, not rely on ridiculous background noises and jump-scare tactics, and you would be surrounded by characters all the time so you never felt too lonely. I'm thinking having your character going slowly insane would be a nice idea.
Too bad I kinda stopped mapping before that happened.

It can't go on for infinity because it'll run into the edge of the map constraints, and you won't be able to see too far anyway because you'll run out of max viewable distance. You'd be able to see it all though, because it's just an empty hall and some idiot forgot to put light entities in and it's fullbright.
