This one's for Hammer 3.5.

But really, you can just rename any point entity to env_rain or env_snow. The two don't have any properties.

Just put an env_snow or env_rain entity in the map and things will automatically fall from sky brushes. It's a point entity. Don't combine them in the same map.

Don't both involve chasing/living the American Dream?
Not enough to warrant saying the two films are very similar. I can only assume you are defining The American Dream here as breaking from a redundant lifestyle in order to chase contentedness, but that's already a popular theme. I mean, by that logic, you should be able to recommend Office Space alongside the two. But the premise, plot, execution, and obviously the characters in the two films are very, very different.
American beauty is a story firmly grounded in the suburban, white collar lifestyle.
American Psycho is a story firmly grounded in the urban, executive lifestyle .

The plot of each film tackles very different objectives that I feel are driven by very different emotions, primarily being sympathy vs confusion respectively. I can be more specific if you feel that this is too vague.

Sort of a pain in the ass if you want to launch the Source SDK. That massive full interface is just too big.

It's a spamfest. The developers took the pick-your-playstyle mechanic that worked so well in COD4 and jacked it up to the point of just being one massive clusterfuck of weapons and perks.

For all of you who enjoyed American Beauty, give American Psycho a shot. Great movie.
I don't feel that it's appropriate to put the two on the same level. The only thing to two share in common are a word in their titles.

Great movies, the both of them, but I wouldn't recommend one based on how someone liked the other.

I just watched L?on yesterday and thought it was fantastic. Been repeating scenes and lines in my head all day. That scene with Mathilda standing in front of Leon's door hoping that he would open it was OUTSTANDING.
Sidenote: I strongly felt that the characters were very anime-ish in their personalities and their quirks. The humble, introverted over-the-top-pro contract killer with a preference for milk, the scary-psychotic lover of classical music with a mysterious drug to use "in the calm before a storm", the orphan with a troubled past who wants to learn the trade of contract killing, etc.

Now, I just finished watching Falling Down. It was pretty good, but not what I expected. Micheal Douglas's character really stole the show, but before watching I thought he was supposed to be an average, every-day man. Turns out he's just a raving lunatic with anger issues. They sort of explain why throughout the movie, but never really do more than skim the surface. Because of that, I never really sympathized with the antagonist but knew that the I was supposed to. The rest of the characters felt 1-dimensional.

It's not so far-fetched, but...
The Black Mesa team has said time and time again that they aren't selling the game to Valve. There's been a handful of interviews between them and Valve in the past, we well.

I'd be perfectly willing to pay for it, but I wouldn't count on it with the team being to vehement about BM being a free mod. It's possible, I suppose, but the team would have to have been outright lying for some time.

And soupy...you are getting on my last fucking nerve dude....you have a huge freaking ego don't you?
Picking on every little detail is what you need to do to form a sound argument.
It's hard to take someone seriously when they are a native English speaker but refuse to follow simple grammatical rules like capitalization because they insist on "writing how they want".

You're right, I haven't been anywhere in Europe. But there's this fantastic new tool called the internet, and with it people can look up all the information they want. It doesn't take a degree in world history to check a Wikipedia page on Austria, after all. You can minimize culture shock by doing your homework before you commit to going somewhere, as I've been doing for the past 2 years.

I also haven't graduated college yet, you would know that if you actually read my comments in this thread.

Edit: It's really bad for you to assume that I've never been to Europe when I gave no implications that I hadn't, by the way. For all you know, I may have taken a vacation to Ireland some time in the past.

Edit Edit:
I am aware that most of it isn't as barbaric as they world would think.
Why do you think the rest of the world thinks Europe is barbaric?

You take EVERYTHING out of context...
Who is taking what out of context? Quote the post and explain exactly why you feel the post is taking something out of context.
Socially, Europe is 20 years ahead of everyone else.
Cite this with real information. I want you to prove to me that the entirety of Europe is "socially ahead" of the US. Define the context in which you use the word "socially" as well.
europe
united states
Capitalize your proper nouns.
americans
Nationalities are also proper nouns.
Can you just go to a freaking local store, in europe, and buy computer parts or DO YOU HAVE TO ORDER THEM?
Europe is an entire continent comprised of many, many countries. Why would you ever doubt that there are no computer stores in any of the European countries? On what basis do you make this assumption?
See, you really are calling America "ahead" by not actively acknowledging that countries like France or Germany or England have local computer stores.

Most Americans take freedom for granted. Freedom is all too often used as a punch line or to make a situation more poetic. But it's something very real and tangible, especially for those who have experienced life without freedom.

My name is Sean Goolsby. Apparently my first name is the Irish spelling, but as far as I know it was an arbitrary name given by my grandmother. Though, since the American southern accent has roots in Irish and Scottish immigrants, it sort of makes sense.
I've lived in the southern US (North Carolina) for the vast majority of my life, but spent 3 years in the midwest (California). After college, I'm moving out of the country and will be the first in my extended family to do so. That also means that I'll be starting a completely new branch in my family tree.

The Goolsby side (father's side) of my family traces back as far as the United States itself and have pretty much all stayed in the southern US, again as far as I know. My distance ancestors were slave owners in the Confederacy, and there's a branch of black Goolsbys somewhere because the slaves took on the Goolsby name after they were freed.
Before the US, I have no idea from where we hailed. I vaguely remember someone saying something about Sweden, but I really don't know.

I don't know about my mother's side (the Sizemore family). My mother's father was a WWII vet who served in Japan, though. He had a lot of memorabilia from his time in service, but he's been dead for almost 12 years now and I didn't even know about it until a few years after he died.

Both of my parents hail from farming families.

So I finally decided to watch it after hearing the name for years, and now I'm in awe.
I'd need more time to make a definitive verdict, but right now I want to say that it's probably one of the greatest movies I've ever seen.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - After the third game, the series turned shit. I don't want to ride on a mechanical bull or play "Jackass", I want to collect S-K-A-T-E and find the secret tape. I want a new TH game based on the original concept.
I disagree. The first 3 games lacked structure, you just had a list of tasks to do and were given a time limit to do them. The introduction of free-roaming in THPS4 was the best thing that could have possibly happened to the franchise. Also 4 was a massive hit online.

But my favorite of the franchise would definitely have to be Underground, because it really dived into a free-roam type game and pulled it off so well. And your character finally had a story to drive the game. Not to mention a truckload of new mechanics that never got outdone by later games. The rest of the games never really introduced anything so radically new, they just sort of touch up on everything that's already there.

Edit: Underground was to the THPS franchise as TF2 was to the Team Fortress franchise. Of course, maybe that's why you didn't like it.

Counter-Strike - I want a new Counter-Strike with new weapons and more gameplay modes. They shouldn't have removed es_ or the m4a1 scope and the shield's missing in CS: S.
Well if you can somehow snag a working client, that's pretty much what CS: Online is.
The thing about Counter Strike, though, is that there's no real practical room for any kind of sequel. Otherwise it would just seem like another tactical shooter game wit the Counter Strike name slapped on.
That and you could remove all but 5 guns from the game, and most players wouldn't play the game any differently.

I don't really get DX11 tessellation. From what I gather, it takes a height map then subdivides the polygons in a model and reworks the model's mesh to match the height map.

So it builds an incredibly high poly-mesh based on a height map. Isn't the whole purpose of height maps to avoid unnecessarily high-poly meshes?
