All of the dates that are on game sites (bestbuy.com and ebgames.com) are all just estimates. THOSE ARE NOT official release dates.
Yes.

davideo: I don't visit the Steam forums as there was such an insane amount of posting that threads disappeared in minutes. Do you know if you could find out whether Captain P is right, and that a boxed-CD code can be used to unlocked the preloaded version of HL?? I'd be very very grateful :)

don't ban me but, wats wronge with beta?
As far as I know, this wasn't a beta. A beta is a stage where it's becoming fully-playable, I thought this was more of an alpha, just for testing certain aspects?

It wasn't legally released, either.

I must say I didn't pay the full retail price to Macromedia for certain products, but I agree with Rabid about VALVe and smaller companies. I mean, it's like Reflections and the Driver series (only better) - it's all they do, really.

Okay, some people are just really lazy, but some are just new. Laughing at the lazy ones who've submitted pointless maps with no screenshots, and rated it 5* themselves is different.

I must confess the first post made me laugh though, and Captain P, the sort of people to whom (gramar) ZL is referring are unlikely to frequent this section of the forums - or any other section.

in Problem with running a map. Post #57037
Yes, it is, because the compile programs and the game both have to work on the faces on the outside walls of your map pointlessly. This produces poorer FPS in-game and much longer compile times.

When you say a skybox, do you mean a huge all-consuming hollowed box, or just a sky brush?

If the former, remove it and make sure your level is leak-tight correctly, and this will likely fix it.

As for the map-moving thing, one could write a batch file to do that automatically. Ask me if you're interested.
