use block tool and make a cylinder. use hollow tool on the cylinder. ungroup and get rid of the two unwanted peices.
The arch tool does a lot better job of this. For a cylinder set it to 360 degrees. But for what I think you're wanting killer, try making two 50 degree arches then rotate them into the correct position. You can always vertex manipulate the arches to get the "exact shape you want.

I mostly mapped for TFC and this is my first try at a HL map. Im stll learning the Half-Life entities so cut me some slack ;). If I finish this project this map will be part of the first of 2 or 3 maps in the story. The begining and the end of the map are not exactly how they will be if I finish it.

-The Story-
You are a Gordan Freeman type dood who was left for dead with Barney in a locked room of a warehouse. The warehouse is really just a cover for a Top-Secret splinter government research facility in London that is working on experimental weapons. They tried to kill you because you stumbled onto their secret plans at making a weapon 10,000 times more powerful than a nuclear warhead. You must fight your way through the warehouse complex into the underground Secret Labs to get evidence so you can tell the world about this weapon and head off another arms race. Once you get to the labs you find out that one of their experiments has gone haywire and has opened a rift into our dimension from an alien world. Aliens are pooring into the underground facility and are getting ready to begin an all out invasion of earth. You must fight your way through the aliens and make your way to the few remaining scientists and get them to help you set off one of the smaller doomsday weapons. The explosion in the heart of the lab deep beneath london should destroy all the aliens and close off the rift.

-Progress-
So far I finished most of the warehouse level. You can make your way all the way to the room that will end up being the gateway to the underground labs level. I need to sort out the entities a little but the architexture is almost done.

-Hint- You need to find a way out of the first building and out the gate to get into the second building :). Dont tell after you figure it out I want to see if it's too easy or too hard.

So please look it over and let me know if I should finish it or whatnot since I been working on other stuff lately. Since its my firt try at Half-Life I would like to get a lot of input about it.

What you said doesn't make sense. An i_t_g doesn't have an "env_render" attribute.

If you want the i_t_g to "respawn" instantly, set it's stay active (sec) attribute to like .01.

If you want it to be visible, you'll need to fake it by putting a func_illusionary in the same spot as the i_t_g. If you want the player to be able to see through it, set the illusionary's render mode to texture fx ammount to between 50 and 150. The lower the number, the more see through it will be.

In your info_tfdetect go to where it says Blue class limits toggleflags and select civilian only. Do the same for Red class limits toggleflags and whatever other teams you have in your map.

TF Mapped is a great site for any TFC related mapping questions.

RacerX, your first suggestion has already been done (See "where to start" in the sidebar), but we should make it a LOT more obvious.
that's what i'm saying, make the procedure for getting help much more obvious. notice the all caps? the instructions for noobs should stand out MUCH more predominantly then every other link. when a noob clicks on a noob link, he should be funneled through a noob flowchart like i listed above.

of course there will be direct links to all pages for non-noobs to navigate through, but once you click a noob button, your routed through the noob steps.

1. have the homepage layed out like this:

I think this would let noobs know the procedure without having to be yelled at 100x.

2. map vault: maybe have 2 finished sections. call one "advanced" maps (instead of calling one noob or beginner maps... no one wants to admit the're a noob so they probably wouldnt post their map in a vault called "noob")

make it clear when posting a map which vault it should go in. ex: "THIS VAULT IS ONLY FOR MAPS USING ADVANCED MAPPING TECHNIQUES. THE MAP MUST BE A COMPLETE, FINISHED LEVEL WITH NO ERRORS OR PROBLEMS"

have a way to vote a noob or crap map out of the advanced section. if it gets enough "out" votes, a moderator must look at it and make the call which vault it should be in, then move it accordingly. I volunteer to help mod the vault if this is implemented.

your map needs to be enclosed in world brushes. anywhere you use a func_wall to seal your map you will have a leak.

yeah, all you really need to do is check the system specs for both consoles to see which one is more advanced. it's very clear the ps2 is inferior. that's not my emotions talking... i'm just stating a fact.

and like i already mentioned, since xbox has way more great games than you would ever have time to play, why go with the system with inferior graphics, inferior online capabilities, etc... just because they have even more games? it doesn't make sense.

What good games does Xbox have that you cannot get on the PS2 or the computer?
that really isnt so important.

xbox has more good games than you would ever have time to finish having a wife and job and all. xbox currently has the best graphix out of the big 3... that's a fact. xbox has a huge hd to copy songs of your cds that you can put in your games. xbox live allows you dl extra levels, vehicles, etc for games you own, and lets you play your games online. for xbox live you need to have dsl or cable modem, so u dont have all the 56laggers around.

theres way more reasons to go with xbox over the number 2 ps2. but the ONLY reason to go with the ps2 is because it has more games. realisticly though, go to the store and see all the games for xbox. theres PLENTY... more than you would ever have time to play.

if xbox has more great games than you have time to play, then why go with the system with inferior graphics just because it has even more games?

get the xbox... it's the only choice :)
