Couldn't open file overviews/test.txt. Using default values for overiew mode.
That's not an serious error.

Check your compile settings carefully. Post a screenshot if necessary. Try compiling in "Expert".

It often does, and the Windows-included program SUBST is useful for this. Type subst /? at a DOS prompt for syntax.

BJ, I'm afraid this has already been covered in jaardsi's example map, "Multisource". I've moved your map to the Unfinished section just in case I am mistaken, but if it demonstrates the same I would be grateful if you would delete it to preserve the integrity and usefulness of the Example Maps section :)

The whole room disappears? As G_KID says, your map probably isn't compiling properly and you're seeing the last sucessfully compiled version.

If it's only the doors that are disappearing, I'm guessing you've forgotten an ORIGIN brush. Read the Doors tutorial if this is the case.

dBpowerAMP Converter here is the best I've seen.

Once it's a WAV, you can tinker with the settings with Windows' Sound Recorder (SNDREC32.EXE).

I criticise your original first point because people often forget which way round these work.

I think that everyone should read every tutorial when they're starting mapping, as soon as they've made some very simple test maps. I did.

255 = fully visible. You want rendermode texture, amount 0.

As for the anonymous poster's second point, he is correct.

PS: retriggering of env_renders does not reverse their effects!
