A database would have more than 5 models, and it would be useful to have a set amount of models for people taht don't model themselves, and that's what I'm talkign about, I don't mean player models or weapon models, mainly just models for use as detail, and if you have enough random detail models you'll never notice taht a lot of people are using them.

And if it's your map, you release your map with teh models first, then let the public have them.

A model dosn't make a map orignninal or not, it merely adds to it's charm. And if you had a good database, it would encourage people to talk about them, you could get people to request models etc.

anyway, I already said I would do this myself, as the gusy here aren';t interested.

a good map takes a while to make, so don't pimp it until you're 70% sure you'll be able to finish it.

You need a server to host hammer and a load of tools, liek batch and wally, psp, etc.
you can get a program to run the server's monitor screen picture w/e in your own monitor.

i have it at work, it's pretty cool.

Yeah, I kinda liked it when I first saw it, but each tiem after it has got worse, tbh I never really liked teh Matrix that much, I'm more of Porky's kinda guy y'know

But if you need help I'd be more tahn willing to help, some of teh architecture in that film was great.

yeha, that's liek 320 bucks for an M16, and about 270 for an AK47, not exactly cheap, but I only had to go less tahn 3 miles form my home to get them.

Yeha, and models help people to make their maps, I can see this is anotehr case of agreeing to disagree.

But seeign as you gusy don't really seem up for it I'll buy some space and set up a Model Database for people to use as they please, and maybe it can be linked to TWHL

What's teh matter guys? don't you want more peopel to join, and to have a bigger collection of mappers/associated artists all under one roof, I don't think I know a site as user friendly as TWHL, all I'm trying to say is, it'd be great to have a section for peopel to submit things for others to rate and use, it'd be great for mod making, you could get your zombie's modelled and skinned.

And I never said I menat models for CS, I said alot of CS mappers are coming in, and CS uses more models than most mods, except HI, that just takes the piss, but teh maps look great for it.

And HL2 is coming out, so models will play a big part in mapping from now on.

Also I think you're being a bit closed minded about this whole thing, what's teh big deal?

And what's so wrong with TWHL at the moment, taht needs seriosu reform?

You mean all teh newbies who are trying to learn, while elitist snobs act liek teh newbies are invading their home, when all tehy are doing is trying to learn (albeit not thru tutorials.. =/ ).

So I dunno dude, I think it's a good idea, but obviously you have no vision.

also, if you read the tut's you would see the func_illusionary and clip method, allowing you to shoot through the "fence"

it doesn't have to be any particular entity, just have a render mode of solid and an fx amount of 255 (to make the fence visible), as anythign rendered solid, instanly renders teh blue in a texture invisible (the correct blue taht is), also, additive renders black invisible

Because you need to sign up to a whole new set of sh*t, and that's mainly halflife models, and are those sites going to last forever with all their outdated models?

woudl it be a good idea to understand why i said what i said in my previous post?

would it even be worthwhile to continue this considering alot of people are, for some unknown reason, opposed to this idea (which isn't mine btw), even though it's a good idea.
just because you don't use models, doesn't mean others don't.

and i generally mean a kind of modelling section.

apparently, not all textures can scroll (although i've managed it somehow, don't ask lol), teh texture needs to have scroll_ as teh start of it's name,

open your texture in wally and rename it, if that doesn't work, use a scrolling texture, ie a pre-made not yours texture taht starts with scroll_texturename

Op4 used cliffs all grouped as func_trains, teh path corners were laid out perpendicular to teh aircraft, and just moved past.

the sky never moved, as this can't be done.

a clever trick they used was to use small models of the apache and teh alien fighters, to give the impression of distance.

Ok hands up who is totally unable to recognise and embrace change. HL will be more than just cleevr tricks in Hammer, it will involve an insane amount of models, why not start it going now and have a reasonably able site/database that supports modelling, where peopel taht model can get suggestions from mappers, and mappers can request new models to use in their projects.

Not such a dumb idea when you actually think about it, instead of blowing it off.

you want coding tutorials and the like, that's the only way to make a truly different mod. you'll need to get the HL SDK (google, or verc)

also, depends on what kind of mod you want to make.

bollox, that site is HL only, and TWHL is moving in many directions at the moment, there's alot of cs mappers coming here for advice and sh*t, so why not a model section too. i just like teh idea of having a worldwide database..

The new one is great though. It's.. new .. and improved, better run programs, supports more sh*t, and has more parameters to run, same interface, and just as easy to use.

But yeah, I'd reccomend the old one too.
