Search the forums. You need Hammer 3.5, a new FGD, and the models unpacked.

I can't see what the point in lying is. As soon as people bought the game, everyone'd say "they lied!" and no-one else would buy it. If they don't claim it, no-one's unhappy.

Except for all the mappers.

Or it could just be a big coincidence it happens for all the most popular songs out there.
Popular songs = more users decide it's a good idea to share it. Most users are idiot. Therefore popular songs = more likely to be screwed up than older songs, implying older and sometimes more experienced users.

It'll work okay.

Get the WADs from SteamAppscounter-strike.gcf using GCFScape, and you'll need the CS Expert FGD from Counter-Map.

I recommend checking your ISP's terms of service to be on the safe side. I know some cable companies do/did get angry with server-running.

Apart from that, you want "hlds.exe". Also, www.no-ip.org 'd be good if you have a fixed IP.

Cylinders? Make them func_walls or stop them from touching other brushes. If you don't know why, look at your map in HL and enter "gl_wireframe 2" in the console. Go look at the pillars. Nasty, eh?

The brightness levels in that last shot never rise above 0.08% of their maximum. That's ridiculous. I tried enhancing the image and I could see the rough form of the fence but it was worthless.

This is because all that are stored are the co-ordinates. If you create a cube, all that are needed to define the cube are six co-ordinates, one per vertex.
