Hey guys, So since valve made TF2 free I thought I would redownload the game and jump in. And of course things didn't go according to plan.

Whenever I try joining a server I get to the "Retrieving server info" part, and then it just stops. I still have mouse functionality so its not really "frozen" but the server never starts. Even after a 20 minute wait. Offline practice isn't much better as the loading bar gets pretty 3/4s of the way full before failing to do anything.

Help would be apperciated. Thanks in advance! :D

It would be nearly impossible to obtain any kind of Profit if it is managed in such a manner. In conclusion, someone needs to take a basic economics and business class before being able to produce a profitable videogame.
And also, once again, please show us a demo so we know you have spend your time on this, that might increase the chances of recruitment.

As a game maker and modder, I am somewhat appalled.

This engine you wasted $50 on is no where near the capabilities of being "profitable". No one really wants to buy 2d games now unless they have some fantastic game play. Also, no one here is really interested in your project, and I'm not just making a smart aleck bullying retort. Everyone here is either source or goldsource capable, we make "actual games", so we all want to work on projects with our capabilities, modeling, coding, mapping. Not this.

Mcrich114: I think it would be great if you would write a tutorial. There is very little information on HL modelling and especially this kind. From my experience the only way to learn modelling is to figure out everything by yourself.

I have a feeling his version of HL needs questioning also.

EDIT: This is an awesome map , Nothing except minor "issues", but they are not really even worth mentioning.

By the way, whats the song playing in the promo? It wasn't in the credits and fit the map really well :)

I have foundthe best way t do this is import the reference smd, delete the group of verts for the actual crowbar, place your own wep. there and parent it to the same bone. Remember though all textures must be 256 bitmap.

The server was dead for some time, but that was long ago. Besides, the server is only empty at night.

Also, there's Team Fortress Classic. I know a server with some really fun maps, and even escape maps.
TF2 is better. But thats not goldsource so...

besides, Whats wrong with CS? It's actually pretty fun.

Seems like somebody was feeling a little hypocritical, and now that you've posted that you actually CAN do something, then you've earned the right to criticize my work. Not that I would give a shit.

Now next time, before you go say that that vacuum cleaner is shit, design one yourself and sell it on the market. Only then will you earn the right to say it's shit.

It's one thing for me to criticize Dimbark's map while not having any maps myself.
It's another for you to criticize my criticism of somebody elses mapping skills whilst having no maps, while having no maps yourself.
I never criticized your work. In fact those gun models are pretty sick. But you are partially wrong about mapping. I haven't published any of my maps. So your right when you say I shouldn't criticize.

After reading this Thread I realize you are all old. Old. Old. I'll say it again. You are all old. I joined TWHL almost 2 years ago because I was the shitiest mapper for DoD:S and thought maybe mapping for HL2 would help me get started. But now I see that I have learned almost NOTHING from you TWHL. Most of the shit I do today in Source I learned from experience. Thanks for nothing, most of my questions go un-answered anyways.
1. This is a half life 1 mapping site. There are only a handful of source tutorials.

Yeah Jeffmods got the right Idea, there are no materials there. Lemme try that.

EDIT: Okay, I tried all of that. Didnt work.I swallowed my pride and downloaded a material pack from GameBanana and put that in my mods material folder. They came up in the material window yay!

But When I made a brush hit enter and applied the texture, only a wireframe came up in the 3d window. I clicked the camera drop down and selected 3d Textured, still wire frame. Whats happening?!

EDIT2: Ok I cant believe I missed this, An error came up whenever I started hammer reading : "failed to load default scheme file. The map views may be missing some elements", any fixes?

Hey guys I got the model thing working but now hammers being a pain. The textures section has nothing in it, As its source Sdk it should already be linked to the Half life 2 textures shouldn't it? I know I can extract materials from the source materials GFC file but that is WAY to many. Any help?

Hey guys! It's been a while since Ive been here but I have this problem that is annoying me way too much.

Alright, I'm trying to mod the crowbar into a different weapon, so I extracted the world model and used mdldecompiler to get he smd, so far so good.

But when I try to import the idle smd into blender I get an error that says
ERROR: Expecting triangles section at line 10

Any help? I'm not sure whats causing this, I am using the importer Valve had on the wiki

I noticed that there is a screw a silencer anim in the v_9mmhandgun mdl, does any one have an Idea on how I can get it to screw in mines? I already have a model for the silencer. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I think I found the smd, its glock_reference(silencer), anyone know which bone the silencer is parented to?
