Norton really sucks. It forced my wife to upgrade when her virus datafile subscription expired. She had to pay $70 to make it work again.

In fact, not only that. It disabled many of the functions of her PC as well. They're truly an evil empire.

There aren't nearly as many mappers in Taiwan as in America or Europe.

There is a difference when Gordon shoots the Combines and zombies than little children maiming innocent animals.

Combines belong to an alien species, even though they look like humans. Zombies are ex-humans. Their former hosts probably appreciate Gordon for putting their walking corpse out of undead misery. All the enemies in Half-Life 2 are out to terminate Gordon. So you can justify the violence because the player is only trying to defend his own life.

However, nursery rhymes in general are full of suffering and disaster. "Ring Around the Rosy" is about dying from consumption (tuberculosis) or the plague. "London Bridge" is perhaps a description of a terrorist act (falling down, falling down). Most of these rhymes are extremely depressing and violent. "Mary Mary Quite Contrary" is about beheading human beings. I bet most of you didn't know that.

Yet they are endorsed by parents and teachers.

I just don't get it.

P.S. This is something I found that tells the historically accurate story behind Hympty-Dumpty. It's quite fascinating.

People complain that computer games are too violent, but just take a look at these lyrics from an age-old nursery rhyme!

It's got suffering, animal mutilation, murder, and concealment of criminal evidence. Compared to this song, Half-Life 2 should be rated "G".
I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Ouch! It stung me!

I'm squishing up the baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
I'm squishing up a baby bumblebee,
Ooh! It's yucky!

I'm wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
I'm wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Now my mommy won't be mad at me!

From Half-Life 2, at Black Mesa East:

Eli: "I think Gordon can handle anything...with the possible exception of you."

Alyx: "Come on, Dad!"

Eli: "Ehnnnn..." (points his finger at Alyx in a sly way, while Gordon stands there extremely embarassed)

This is a very unique map for CS:Source. I just played a few rounds with the bots, and it's great. It can get disorienting though.

Study the layout carefully before playing. If you played a lot of PacMan before, you probably won't get lost.

Relax! It's a small download this time.

Clicky!

Nazis were against any non-Caucasian races. So they would never side with the Chinese. Heck, they didn't even like the Japanese, who fought with them in WWII.

This is my profile page for the Chinese Half-Life community. It's interesting to see the similarities. By the way, due to my new member status, the words below my avatar say "stupid newborn dog". It's kinda like the description members get at the SnarkPit (i.e. snark zygote).
is there such a thing as a Chinese dictionary? What would be the criteria to organize these symbols
Of course there is a Chinese dictionary. It would be utter chaos if there is no standard reference to organize all these characters.

There are two systems to look up words. One is based on pronounciation (phonetics), and the other one is based on the "root" of a character. For example, words that are associated with water all have the same "root" in the character (i.e. lake, river, wet, flood). After looking up the proper "root", the characters are sorted by the number of strokes in the characters.
How exactly does that work on their systems? Looks like quite a hassle to me with that many characters...
It is unwieldy, but no one can change it because it's based on a 6,000 year tradition.

I type the characters using phonetics, and then choose from a list of words that all have the exact same pronounciation. It's not fast, but it gets the job done.

I actually type in complete sentences, with full-on punctuation and proper capitalization when I am on the IRC.

I know it's rare, but perhaps it's because of my age. Old folgies type like that.

I have actually used an old Smith-Corona typewriter to compose a letter before. It's just like the ones you see in those WWII movies.

All high school students are mandated to learn English. It's part of the standard curriculum.

However, most of them can't really read English in the real world. It's a sad truth.

Grammar is important. And why shouldn't we support the proper usage of the English language when we can? Why condone bad grammar when we have an opportunity to promote higher learning? Yes, it's possible (and desirable) even in an internet mapping forum.

Everytime I come across an "your stupid", I cringe. The English language is dying. Let's respawn it.

Chinese is really meant to be read from right-to-left and up-to-down, but it's too difficult to modify this for the computer age. So we adapt.

Judging from what they're writing, they're even younger than the members at TWHL--probably twelve year olds.

It's a thread on mapping for CS:Source. The old Worldcraft has a Chinese version, but the new Hammer only comes in English. The Valve tutorials (and most other tutorials) are also in English. This makes these Chinese mappers hard to learn how to map.

I am considering of joining that community, to give them some pointers, and helping out my people. No one seems to have any clue on how to map.

The only problem is that it takes me five minutes to type a single sentence in Chinese. It's very painful.

I do agree with the redundancy of the excessively large mp3's in the map.

How do you get to the teleporter again? I went to the chapel, but after I pressed the keypad, nothing happened.

Do you have to no-clip to get to the secret church?

It's difficult to make a map that is better than this one. The map was designed and mapped by one guy. Some other people helped with modeling and music, but most of the map is one person's work.

I would say it's just as good as the official cs_militia and de_inferno, and both of those maps are amazing.

And check your cstrike/sounds folder. It has two nice songs with this map.
