Every time I think about mapping I have a huge urge to do it because I remember how awesome it is.
But then when I start doing it, I lose all motivation and get bored within a few hours.
I have a bunch of great ideas for maps but just don't have the patience to get them done.
I want to get into mapping but I just cant. Oh well.Heh, you're reading my mind. I got the same thing. The last time, I seriously mapped, was about december/january 2006-2007. After that, I attempted to map a few times, but never got far.
Ever since 2003 music has been on a serious downward spiral. Especially with Raggetone and Rap.Aye, I agree with ZL, that's a incredibly narrow-minded viewpoint you got there. What you mean with the 'Raggetone and rap' part anyway? I know for a fact that most people here find the rap genre horrible music, but when I ask of which artist they think of when they think of rap are 50 cent, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes I cry deeply inside.. I hate it when people generalize. I'm a enthustiac rap listener and when you actually look further than your daily 50 cent crap there's quite a bunch of good rap out there. If you don't like rap as a whole, fine, then it's just a matter of taste, but that doesn't give you the right to call the genre a bunch of crap and a reason of the 'downfall' of music. (You might not have said that, but it came across like you meant that.)
Do you really think they had HL2 and all the little "episodes" already planned out when they made that stuff? No, but Valve obviously thought about the story so it inclines (heh, is that even a word? :P) with the story of HL1.
I think it would look cool with bright red, over-the-top blood effects.Agreed!
Even the old TWHL was pwning them.Aye. Snarkpit is extremely quiet. The snarkpit compo is a hopeless last resort on bringing some activity into the community if you ask me..
Not always the case. Some sur-real maps have been extremely popular. Can't name any right now though. Most HL maps, especially HL1 maps, have a very unrealistic sense to them imho.
Anyone else think thats a good idea? Not too sure myself. Why not? It can only help.
and if freshed actually read the compo page he would know:I did, but thanks to my limited English I ended up getting confused.
I must point out that you don't have to make the exact same map - i.e. you can change the texturing, you can change the models (anything to get out of making custom content, if you are unable) - as long as the map represents the map in the screenshots you provide.Does that mean, that I can texture the map totally different from the actual map? Does that mean, I gotta map the areas I took screenshots of to the point exact architectural wise?
custom content is allowed, but only if you made it yourself. the same goes for custom code. just remember we will not be judging the custom content or code.I fail to understand. I mean, you guys will be judging on texturing, which can be custom, right? Does that mean I can't use custom textures, if I haven't made them myself?
