Well that sorta works. For some reason, Steam just ignores any parameter that i type after that shell command, like this:

steam://run/70/ +map crossfire

This for instance, only launches HL, but not the map crossfire. Fuck.

Edit: I GOT IT WORKING! Now give me some time to make the necessary code adjustments...

New build uploaded: i found another instance of incorrect code which is causing the application to crash at startup (only if you have not installed HL at D:\Half-Life).

Here's something i've put together when i got bored:

Its a little tool that allows you to quickly load a map in Half-Life without using the ingame console or shortcut.
It can load a map in singleplayer or deathmatch mode (by checking the checkbox).

Its not really that original, but i find it pretty usefull and i've replaced my Half-Life desktop shortcut with this so that i can quickly select a map (download from TWHL for instance) from the list, hit enter, and HL loads with the selected map.
Loading up HL manually, going in the console, enter a map and hit enter is basically the same thing, my tool only does it faster. :)
Source is not supported. Maybe later.

UPDATED
  • Mod support has been added.
  • Now works with Steam Half-Life.
  • Now launches Steam HL mods correctly.
  • Added anti crash code.
Oh well, whatever, use it or not. :)

Download Half-Life Launcher Version 1.0.3. (Requires .NET FrameWork 2.0)

WARNING! Put the executable in "Steamsteamappsaccount_namehalf-life" or face the "Could not find filesystem dll to load." error!

If not, get Steam. Install the Source game you wish to map for, then install the Source SDK from the Tools tab (left click, install).

Oh, and don't bother making any more "How do i get (something from HL2) working in HL1" threads. If you want stuff from HL2, then map for HL2. Or make your own damn models and stuff and stop ripping them from HL2.

Dude thats not the point. The point is: you and Elon both blame Steam for doing somekind of harm to your computers. Virusses, spam, screwing up your dads email, whatever, Steam doesn't do that.

There's a difference alright.

Singleplayer maps don't show up in the maplist under LAN or Internet play. To start up a singleplayer map (a single player map only required one info_player_start) simply open the console and enter "map mapname" (no quote, no bsp extention).

But if you're making a deathmatch map, then you don't need info_player_start entities but multiple info_player_deathmatch entities. Only then the map will appear in the map list under LAN or Internet play.

I got the same thing, and i run 1600*1200. So its probably some little glitch in Hammer. Guess you can't do anything about it...

Actually, "placed" is the correct word. You place entities, you don't draw them.

Make sure you don't place the entities inside or partially inside walls.

You also want to make sure that everything else in your map works fine, check for warnings/errors in the log file.

Thats bad. It might fix those lighting issues, but generally not recommended that you use an old q tool.

Those shadows probably come from solid brush work. See what happens when you func_wall those.

Ok.

When Realistic Fall damage is oon, you just fall to death if you fall from too high. If its off, you receive 10 damage points of fall damage nomatter how high you're falling from.

This is only the case in multiplayer though, in singleplayer there's always realistic fall damage.

To hide the HUD, enter hud_draw 0 in the console. To show the hud, use 1.
To hide the player weapon model, enter r_drawviewmodel 0. To show, use 1.
