Dunno why theyre sellin 'em for cheap - Good deal, though.

A 9200 should run HL2 fine. I can run medium detail at upwards of 70FPS and higher detail at around 40 FPS on my older GeForce FX 5200.

Er, I can't really understand much of your post, but I'll do my best to solve your problems.

Your func_door is locked most likely because you either named it or gave it a master - remove it's name or master and it will become unlocked.

Add an origin brush to your func_tankrocket - Have a look at the following tutorial:

http://cariad.co.za/twhl/tutorial.php?id=16

Dunno what you're on about with 'ovsprays'.

Excellent point ;P

@IEMC: No, but you can manually make the entities if you mess around in the console enough - for example, the Magnum is weapon_357, suit item_suit, Alyx npc_alyx (methinks), etc.

Thats odd.

How loud is that HD activity noise? Louder or harsher noises can sometimes indicate a virus infection - If it's really loud and annoying, you may just have a lovely virus on your hands.

If you have the installation CD for the OS, try booting directly from that.

in Hammer 4.0 and HL2 Post #74357
This is because the Material files from the Counter-Strike: Source GCFs (And used in the default setup of Hammer 4 and the SDK) are not present in Half-Life 2's GCFs. When you compile a map with these materials, it will work in CS:S, because the game is loading the CS:S GCF, while not in HL2 since its loading the source materials GCF instead, so it's looking for files that aren't there.

You should load up the HL2 content if you want to make maps for HL2 - And the following tutorial tells all about doing it:

http://www.snarkpit.com/editing.php?page=tutorials&game=HL2&id=119

The alternative to this is to wait until the full SDK is released - which should be very soon.

in Noob with sky and maya problems Post #73962
The issue is that you're applying the sky tex directly upon the box. Put the tools/skybox texture onto the box instead.

To add the sky - just go Map - Map Properties, and enter the name of the sky you want. You can see available skies by entering 'sky' in the texture filter box and finding their name - they look like skybox/sky_day_01_05lf, for example. The lf, rt, bk, up, dn suffixes need to be left off in order for the sky to work properly - they just tell the game where to apply the sky texes. You also need to leave out the skybox/ portion.

So if I wanted this sky_day_01_05, I'd just enter sky_day_01_05 in the appropriate field in map properties.

Argh. We've had to explain this to our own HL2DM team, too.

This "deathmatch" is a CODE BASE and is not a working DM mode. Players do not respawn, you do not have a player model (a decent one, anyhow), weapons aren't functioning properly, and they are held at...interesting locations.

We're coding an actual working version of DM with HL2DM - Wait a while and you'll have a decent DM mode.

Damn you guys REALLY hate Dell.

Know what? I purchased mine for about 1k USD, and it's comparable with some of the stuff available for twice that amount, save for the video card, which isn't horrible, really, just not great.

Haven't had it crash due to a problem with the computer, either, all the problems were my doing. There is nothing wrong with them, that makes them so different from the next manufacter over. It's not like they're using shoddy parts, or anything.

But to stay back on topic...

Anyone else stuck on "Anticitizen One"? 'at chapter's giving me hell for some reason. It seems like it should be really easy, too :P

If you func_door each without a trigger setup, then they will move independently.

Have each a func_door with the same targetname that's targetted by a trigger_multiple around the doors. Should work.

Argh, noone cares about how many maps you've made - it's their quality that really counts. For example, when I applied to teh HL2DM team, they weren't interested in the number of maps I did - they wanted one good RMF file - and that they recieved.

What's with the caps, btw?

And I could certainly reinstall Hammer but it's not the program itself - it's a rather nasty driver issue.
