Hmmm... it's possible.
This one web site has a video tutorial to get a Zombie (with AI) to work in HL2DM. Somebody in another message board pointed me there and the video file was missing. I was hoping to find another tutorial or get help somewhere else.

How do you get NPCs to work (with AI) in HL2DM? Are there any tutorials? Every time I try, the NPCs just stand there in a wierd 'spread-eagle' position.

Okay, I'm making a map and I want models that don't move, and I assume prop_static is the way to do it. I placed a couple in my map but then it gave me a couple of errors... here is what it said about prop_static:

How would I make it so my textures can be downloaded by players on a server. Normally, it doesn't download the custom map textures, but the server has them. How would I include them in the map?

No. Only the humans wil have weapons.

Those are just the kind of levels we want. We want tight indoor ones where the headcrabs and/or zombies can jump out a surprise from anywhere. We also want the maps to be dark, because the headcrabs and zombies have nightvision to see the humans who will have very bad flashlights.

The headcrabs will have two attacks. A normal "claw" attack and a "pounce" attack that wil detect for a "headshot". If a "headshot" is detected, then you will turn into a zombie. After a short period of time, you can "eject" from the zombie to become a normal headcrab again. We will have "ejection" be disabled until after a certain amount of time so the headcrabs don't go jumb-kill-transform-eject-jump-kill-transform-eject-... you get the point.

Yea, I should have not made a triple post.
No the zombies won't have weapons, and some of the weapons will be removed as to not vaporize the headcrabs. :lol:
You will be able to play as both races although there is a balance issue. We are currently trying different ways to balance them out. One option is slanting the levels in the headcrab's favor.

I saw in the steam news something about people changing their models to odd things like headcrabs etc. and that it was going to be fixed.
How do they do that? I tried the cfg file, but that didn't work...

Ummm... I think it is SP2's fault... Same thing happened to me! But it didn't happen to mine until after I installed SP2! It only does that to DeathMatch though...

But my other computer doesn't do this... It doesn't have this problem, but the models are black, so I don't use that comp. I'll try running VIS on fast and see if that helps any.

No, I don't think it's the map size...
I have the same problem. When I make any sized level, with anymore then one entity, it takes for EVERY to compile. I go into task manager, and stop "wis.exe" other wise it sits there and counts:
1...2...3...4...5... and on and on. :(
Does anyone know how to fix this?

This is what I did, was I got the SDK, read some tutorials, fallow what it says and you start to get feel of how things work. That's what I did and I'm pretty far in my mod. But now that HL2 came out, I'll have to re-do it! Oh well...

I have three questions for a new map I am working on...

1.) How do I replace the knife's model with, something like a sword in the level?

2.) How do I make it so players can only appear with the knife(no pistol)

Here is what I want to know how to do:
