Now I need to doulbe check my math so to speak

In the mulitthread you had in the sample map, you have 4 blinds and it was setup like this:

targetname blinds
blind4 5.5
blind3 4
blind2 2.5
blind1 1

In my case I have 13 blinds so I should set it up like this
blind13 20
blind12 18.5
blind11 16
blind10 15.5
blind9 13
blind8 11.5
blind7 10
blind6 8.5
blind5 7
blind4 5.5
blind3 4
blind2 2.5
blind1 1

Is this correct?

I am curently making a Rats map.

Have a big window and created a set of blinds. All blind blades have func_Ladder for the player to be able to climb up and down them.

Is it possable to make the the blinds open and where they collect at then end, bunch up and crush the player in between them?

If so, HOW?

No you are right Anthony :) You can send out the file and save it in the /Half-Life/valve folder.

However you are going to have to send it out to everyone that connects to the server you are playing that map on.

Or

Create a RES file to upload it to the players

wadinclude works better cause you just do not have to worry about it.

The ReS File did no work or I config it incorrectly.

The Wad files belong in the Valve folder...

The RES file just had the wad file listed...

somewad.wad

Though I have printed the tutorial out I have not tried them out yet.

In the process of backing up computer for format.

What is the actual Problem that you have and I will ask my friend at work. He is a 3D Studio Master :)

This was not suppose to be a decompile thread. Decompiling in VERY VERY frowned upon in the mapping comunity..
Yes wadinclude does embed the textures into the bsp when compiling from rmf to BSP. Was trying to see if it was possable to do it to a bsp file that was already compiled.

RES file looks like the best answer

its the makers fault for not putting the stupid i texture WAD in it!
That maybe true :) however I have always felt,

Decomplie another author's map = Very Bad, top the madness now

I have made a vow that I would not decompile someone elses map.

Here is the situation. When adding custom maps to my HLDS server I ran arossed some maps that required the authors Texture wad to run the map. After contacting one author and reciving the texture wad to get it to run on the server. I notice that it is only one image file. Ok so here is my question.

Question: Is there a way to embed the texture wad into a already complied BSP map without decompiling it?

Thanx Andy after talking about it in other fourms we figured that it was that I was not using OpenGL. Sorry to freak out everyone. I ran OpenGl and was able to make an overview Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you do a res file for only one map and its files?

I do have resgen but got confused after reading the readme file.

I saw that I could do all the BSP files on a HLDS server but I just want to do it for my latest map.

As Anthony has noted that my game_player_equip does not work in single player it only works in MP mode. That is what I wanted.

However when I run the map in dev mode the it say master not set.

I know it is in the game_player_equip properties and the info_player_deathmatch.

What I wanted to do is to have the game_player_equip target all info_player_deathmatches.

To game_player_equip Target= dmspawn

I should Name each info_player_deathmatch= dmspawn

right?

My only logic in Targeting and naming these is so that all MPs get what is needed to run in the map because there are no weapons laying on the group just ammo.

Yea there are parts in the map that drop the fps to 8 and then it jumps to 60 fps if you keep moving.

It works alot better in OpenGL and the light_envioment works and I do not have disapering textures or sky textures.

I am still getting disapearing walls and sky when you stand in certain spots in the map.

One person suggested to me that I up the max vis distance in the map properties.

I did I bumped it from 4096 to 8192 I even tried 16384. did not help.

I have updated the map in the map vault.

Thank you Anthony The map looked a lot better with the canyon wall sarounding the inter canyon. Nice touch!!!!!

this problem may be cause by how I am compileing the map. I am using zoner tools, but the map looks like it is using only 8 fps after complie.

any suggestions would be great

LOL yes I did type dev_overview 1 not de_overview 1.

From the tutorial the overview shows. But unfortunity I was still in the game mode.

I will re-read the tutorial and try it again. I will let you know if it worked :)

Note: not using the steam version... using last updated patched version of the serria version.

While creating a HLDM map I added game_player_equip. I assigned these keys and values

weapon_shotgun 1
ammo_buckshot 50
item_battery 50
item_longjump 1

Have not given it a name or a target name. The only flag was Use only, which was not checked.

Now this should give the player a shotgun with 50 rounds, 50 armor, and a jump pack. But it did not work?

Was it because I did not run the map in deathmatch?

Or

Did I miss something?

Chippy thanks for the info. Still having issues with it.

So later tonight I will upload the room.

The problem is now the person get sent out to fast and passes the door and trigger hurt before they ar activated.

Will anounce it in this post when I have uploaded it and the shout box.

kol I think you right because with monsters you pin point which enitiy that would trigger the stop and since the player is non-targetable as far as I know, I may be completly impossable. Save World Kill :P

So i would have to do a time limit???

Happy Holidays everybody!!!!!!

I wanted to shot a quick note about this issue I had with function_push.

I GOT IT FIXED!!!! :P

Do not strech the box to the full size of the room. The function push for some reason will not push is the player is inside the box. You just gotta think out side the box.

to fix it I sized the box too be as tall and as wide as the room in fornt of the fan and about 16 units long. (looks like a wall in fornt of the fan in hammer).

Then you adjust the speed to your specs.

I place a triger hurt in front of the door that slams shut after the button is triggered the door closes and the trigger hurt is activated.

Now just need to figure how to time this so it is not just left on. I want it to cycle untill the tigger_hurt kills the person inside.

Any ideas?
