Well, now we're out of Cairns, and are in Tully. It's quite a small place.
We're living in port-a-cabins at the hospital where my dad now works, as apparently the original hospital accommodations blew down in the last cyclone.
The accommodation has WiFi, which is good, but my laptop is missing the wireless card drivers, which is bad. I think I managed to download them all in the 5 minutes before we left the house in Ireland, so all I need to do is install them.

Have I ever said how much I love the Steam overlay you can bring up in games? Because, I do. Alot. Whatever genius thought this up should get a raise.

Well, I just graduated high-school today. In the next weeks I'll be going to different exams for the baccalaureate. Wish me luck!

Gosh, it was an odd combination of tears, happiness and sadness... It's hard to accept the fact that we leave our colleagues, our second family...

EDIT 2: So the power went off yesterday, just tried it again and its working now. Hammer is worse than a spoiled child I tell you!

EDIT: The entire Source SDK, forgot to mention that. Also tried verifying ingegrity and it all checked out.

ORIGINAL POST: This probably isn't for a journal, but fuck it, I'm tired and I just wanna map something.

Hammer is no longer working for me, it gets stuck at the 'Hammer' on-screen logo. Is it broken or is it just me?

At the moment I am in a departure lounge in Singapore, and I'm waiting to board a plane bound for Australia.
I'll be there with my dad and brother for 2-3 months, as the job money is good, and we'd like to visit our hometown again. Although for the first month we will be in the small town of Tully, in north Queensland. After that we will be going to the equally small town of Proserpine, also in Queensland, as that is the town where I spent my childhood.

It will be the first time I've been in the country for a decade.

I'm kind of nervous about it, as pretty much all of my old friends moved out of the town as soon as High school ended, so it will be months basically in the middle of nowhere, but we should end up going to the beach and stuff, so it could be fun.

Ugh... clients.

From an email received today:"I can't give you an example of what I want at the moment but I need this up and running ASAP as I am in the middle of a major presentation tomorrow."

...I don't even know where to start with that sentence. However, I am kind of impressed that he is currently in the middle of something that hasn't happened yet.

So, I played through Gut Reaction again after about 10 years or so. Pretty old mod for Half-Life and a classic in my opinion.

Rather than uploading the entire thing I made a sort of highlights reel containing only the entertaining parts of my play through. (I listen to feedback sometimes :P )

Hey guys, been a while eh? I think I write that everytime I come here. I bet if I loaded up journals I'd see the same opening...

Anywho, I thought I'd share a fan made project I worked on for the last few months. I dunno if some of you are familiar with an old SNES game called Chrono Trigger? It was a well received game back in the day and it still has a cult following.

Well I only recently played it and I understood why people loved it. So I thought I'd use the power of nostalgia as a means of gaining some reputation on the internet. I purposely chose to remake "The Kingdom of Zeal" in 3D as the song that plays in the original game has a huge fan base. It's called Corridors of Time and there are tons of remixes on Youtube alone.

So I remade the Kingdom of Zeal but I didn't stop there. I decided to make it in the style of Zelda: Wind Waker. A nice way to gain attention dont you think?

Anyway if you're here for the link, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vMHSiYiB55s

Hope you enjoy it. I'm gonna sit out in the sun for the next month after spending so much time working on this XD

Good to be back on TWHL by the way!

Why I don't sleep much.

I work in Web Design in an office based in Shrewsbury. The days are your average 9am - 5pm (with an extra 30 minutes tacked on for some reason). Now, Shrewsbury is about an hours drive from my house, with another 15 minutes walk to the nearest free parking. This means that in order to get to work on time the latest I can leave my house is 7:45, which means in order to get up, get dressed, have breakfast and make lunch I need to be out of bed by 7:10.

In the evenings after work I will get back home at around 6:45pm - 7pm. I will then need to have dinner, wash up afterwards, spend some time with the wife etc. I usually get time to myself from 9 or 10pm. So basically, if I was to turn in at midnight, I only get 2 or 3 hours to myself for gaming or mapping or browsing the net. Basically, it's not enough.

So I don't sleep, and at weekends I sleep even less to make the most of my time off. Usually turning it at 4am Saturday morning and getting up at 6am, then turning in again at 4am Sunday morning and sleeping until 9 or 10.

...I'm tired.

Amazing news! A documentary I shot has won the Southside Film Festival 2012 main award!

Check it out here
(note this is the only version online and is a slightly older edit. If you notice a few sync issues, they've already been fixed, it's just not uploaded).
