Tetsu0 Tetsu0Positive Chaos
I fractured both my heels Saturday.
My girlfriend got a new place near her university. Naturally I moved in. We threw a little party Saturday to celebrate being on our own. Sometime during the night, my girlfriend stated "I haven't been in the attic yet." Naturally we take that as an open invitation to go exploring. We find some trinkets left behind from the old owners; clothin, plates, plastic coconut-shaped bowling ball. At the end of the attic, there's a window. That window looks over the garage. Naturally, again, I climb out said window onto the roof of the garage.
I then decide its a great idea to jump off the roof while nobody is looking so I can run back inside and surprise them all.
I lept.
I stuck the landing.
Onto pavement.
Barefoot.
2 bilateral fractures of my calcanei.

Time to fully heal: 9-12 months.
Estimated time until I experience no pain: 3 months.
Estimated time I'll have to be on crutches: 1 month.

So... THAT happened..

I'm sorry but that's hilarious.
I am sorry for you though. My sympathies.

On the bright side, now that you're lying around in the couch all day you've got an excellent opportunity to watch all of those series and shows which you've never found the time to watch before. Almost makes me wish I broke my foot. (On the other hand, nah..)

Fuck...

I can honestly say that I cannot imagine how much that must have hurt.

I personally have never broken a single bone in my body. I guess it's one of the perks of being, as Archie would say, the most bland man on the planet.

I wish you a speedy recovery (That would be nine months, rather than twelve) :)

My reactions:

I then decide its a great idea to jump off the roof while nobody is looking so I can run back inside and surprise them all.

"I can see where this is going..."
I lept.

"Bad idea, I'm guessing?"
I stuck the landing.

"Oh, alright."
Onto pavement.
Barefoot.
2 bilateral fractures of my calcanei.
"Oooohhhh... ow."

My sympathy to you, sir. Also, apparently I completely missed the first line of the journal. :

I've done the same stupid thing 9 years ago, although I was luckier and I only had to stay 2 weeks at home.

Hope you'll feel alright man. Wish you a speedy recovery... if possible.

I don't even remember what I was thinking.
It did really hurt. I was trying to walk the next morning and it just wasn't working out.
I had to crawl everywhere. Haha

Dude. That's stupid. But maybe you have learned (or will learn from this experience) not to do it again :P

I hope you still want to go for a drink...

How do you use crutches when both your heels are fractured?
Commented 11 years ago2012-08-26 03:11:53 UTC Comment #49385
I can walk honestly.
I just can't walk for more than 15 feet without my heels becoming uncomfortable.
Basically I just gotta take it easy, rest whenever I can.
I can stand, shower, drive, walk a bit...
So I'm not in a cast or anything. But by the end of the day my ribs hurt. Crutches suck.

To be perfectly honest I would have done exactly the same. I am not a clever man.

However I have never broken a bone, thankfully.

My dad had a similar injury. He was driving on a motorcycle and something happened that forced his heel to slide against the floor, the sole of his shoe was torn apart in seconds and next was his heel, which actually came off, he had to go pick it up, get to the hospital, and get it sown back on D:
