Srry you reminded me of an example.
If you DO happen to have a brush that is clipped at an angle on one side, but is flat on the other side, instead of stretching it using the handles, Vertex Manipulate it.
Drag a box around the outside white boxes of the other end, and drag it as you wish.
Quick and painless.

Fixed it.
my earlier post was the exact problem.
I guess i somehow created an NVIDEA launch Setting for hl2.exe
And i didn't set any hardware accelertion for it. So my computer wasnt using my video card to run the game?? i guess.

correct me if im wrong on that statement

But i loaded the defaults for the game config and now i'm getting a steady 32fps. !&*()ing Nvidea.

ATI is so much better.

Thanks for the support guys.

Yes i did everything Ant suggested.
Half life 2 loads fast, the title screen lags, console lags, maps load fast as always, but im still getting 10 fps. I played until i got outside and i was getting 50 fps looking straight up.

It's almost like my computer isnt trying enough. Because i brought up the task manager and its at 9% in-game.

I don't remember messing with my graphics settings at all really. I haven't run half-life 2 in a WHILE though. I just wanted to take a break from HL1 mapping for a little while and play some HL2.
I've always run these settings. HDR is on, and was on from the beginning. I run a 16:9 aspect ratio so there's only one resolution i can run the game at and its the same resolution that my computer is set at.
I have the latest (i think) Omega drivers for the Geforce Go 7400.
I'm on my desktop computer right now because the laptop compile .....

Just finished..

hmm ill edit this post after i try running it again.
EDIT ::
Defrag finished as mentioned, and im still getting 10-15 fps even crouched and staring into a corner.

Acceleration is at Full.

Agh! wtf?

Hmmmmm.... this shouldn't be happening.
When i run Hl2 now, im getting about 11fps and its really starting to bug me as to why its occuring.

My hardware sets the defaults for the video properties, and that's what i have been using (basically all high quality, and simple reflections for water)

Before, it would run perfectly. Even in the intense areas of fighting and stuff..

Like i started a new game and i threw the can at the combine dude and it took 3 secods to fall from his head to the ground.

I did virus scans, Ad-Aware scans, I got rid of all the programs i wasnt using, i googled for information on all the processes i was running.. they all checked out, yet i still seem to be runing hl2 REALLY slow.

And im NOT turning the quality settings under default. I just refuse.

Specs:
Dell XPS M1210 (Laptop)
2 gig Ram
2 Ghz Dual Core processor
NVIDEA GeForce Go 7400 Vid Card

Running Windows XP

Only other apps open are: Steam, Trillian, Mcafee programs, and the touchpad thing.

I still havent figured out how to crash it. Im trying huge numbers and it jus keeps spitting them out.

Still no twist preview? I realise it'd probably be pretty hard, but if it's possible it'd be nice.

EDIT:

Hmm i tried a twist with the default values and i got an error.

Take some pictures, make them divisible by 16, and put them into a wad. its not too dificult.

yeah....
a brush with the texture "sky" just refrences the pictures of the skybox used.
So completley surrounding a level with it is unnecessary (as said)

When you compile your map, in the properties put in "+particles 50000"
and in game, after the compile, bring down the console and enter in "pointfile"
It'll give you a bunch of black>>white dots to follow, so noclip til it goes into the void.

gl_clear 1 will turn the void red. (might be hars on the eyes but will lower confusion)

yeah but this one you actually had to fight yourself.
i just took all 7 of my pipebombs and threw them at him at the same time.
GREAT storyline, from the both of them. It was a bit short (vendetta) but i loved the level design. I thought it was source before i remembered it wasnt. (??lol) Yeah, and i think they re-skinned the vortiguants and maybe the alien grunts...

I liked it tho.

k i tool a look at the .vmf
And the map isnt sealed off from the void.
Theres absolutley no water textures in there at all, but the hallways you made need to have 4 sides to them.
Top :: Bottom :: Left and Right.
And i recommend re-texturing the different sides of them.

Upon taking another look i noticed a sky brush (not hollow) that was created over almost the entire grid system
not good
Skyboxes only work when hollow and are a bid idea anyway.

Oh and one last thing:: there was a light environment floating in the void.
It only works in a sealed environment with a sky brush making up one of those.

So i compiled again and in the giant room with the ladder, there's a blue light.

All it does is cast a little blue circle onto te ceiling. either learn about texture lighting, or move that light towards the middle of the map.

I'll get some screenies in when i get some better textures for my map.

EDIT ::

Textures are a little better. Once again, im using mspaint for all of these lol.

Well i dont really care either way. If i can help someone, i will.
Now... another question about the compo before i get toooo detailed with my kitchen..

What are your system specs (j/w) because i have a crapload of itsy tiny small stuf that has to be rendered.
I highy doubt this map will run properly on a machine more than 3 years old.

But. i could be wrong.

Orpheus, you'll get yer pm, and espen, you dont owe me anything.

no no no.

there's no ocarina.

This is just going to be a map pack re-creating (with some differences) the child-link adventure part of the game.

The beginning (finding your equipment)
The Great Deku Tree
Dodongo's cavern
Jabu Jabu's belly
And ill do some cinematic work if i can for any cutscenes or anything like that.

Right now the project is going slow (i only have about half of kakriko (sp?) village done) because im doing the minicompo #9

I also want to know if someone wants to help me with this.
It's a lot of brushwork and texturing.
And i dont have paintshop. All my texture's i've made so far were combinations with mspaint and wally.
