in custom textures as decals Post #271397
You cannot use custom decals in Half-Life. Only the default ones as these are a coded element of Half-Life. You actually need to get in Half-Life and recode it and you can't do that without making a new Half-Life mod. Your best bet is to fake it by placing a 1 unit wide brush against the wall with your texture on it. And set to 'func_illusionary'

Oh yes...sorr. I've been away for the weekend and only just got home. The maps are great thankyou. As for the Uzi, it's just something different. Barniel also uses an uzi instead of a glock.

Actually. The RPG and LAW while mostly similar, they have their own advantages. The RPG has homing abilities (ie, the laser pointer) the LAW does not. The LAW is MUCH more destructive but a 'fire and forget' weapon (you fire and discard the weapon as it's useless)

ATM we only have a few new weapons planned. Like an Uzi, heavy machine gun, and a few others like the photon gun, ect.

Yes, of course. All it does is delete data on previous levels, things that are saved like which monsters are dead and alive, how much health they have, where their dead bodies are, where blood decals were splatters, the state of all other entities like which boxes are broken, ect. Doing this just deletes this data. So if you go through to the map where it will delete this data and then return to a previous map, the level will load like it was the first time you entered it. All the monsters will be alive and everything is reset. Player data is kept so the amount of ammo, health ect is saved

Have you ever used the 'Clear Previous Level Data' option in the worldspawn entity? Use this if you have a changelevel trigger that you can't return through. This might solve your problem if that is the cause. This will delete all saved data like dead monsters, decals, ect from previous levels that you can't return to

There are certain levels of optimization that developers run on their maps. This includes Vis blocking and clipnodes. Why not put up your compile log so we can see what your compiler says.

Ok. Next step is the animation. Do you have a model view?? If not, find and download 'Jed's Model Viewer' as mentioned above (i think it was). Now in the scripted_sequence entity. In the action animation property, put in the animation name EXACTLY as it appears in your model viewer. Also, if you want an idel animation, put that in the idle animation property now. If this works right then we will add the retina scanner effects next, but that involves a little reworking so thats why im not covering it now :)

Ok, first the speech as thats the easiest to solve. You had the right idea but you used the wrong format. I'm assuming you know about the 'sentances.txt' in the gearbox/sound directory? If not have a look. You had the right idea but used the wrong part:

OT_FINDMORE otis/of1a1_ot04 <-- This is the line that tells Half-Life to make Otis speak this line. The bold hilighted part is what the game looks for and the other part tells the game what sound to play. So you want to use '!OT_FINDMORE' in the sentance name property.

Ok, now the best thing to do when a sequence isn't working is to restart. It's a very delicate chain and fiddling should only be done when it's working. When it's not it becomes impossible to properly identify why it's not if you fiddle with it. So we are going to start from scratch. Create a scripted_sequence entity and place it near the retinal scanner. Now open up its properties and give it a name (I will call it seq1) and in 'Target monster' put the name of the monster_otis. Don't put an animation, just tell it to 'walk to' and face towards the retinal scanner. Now create a 'trigger_once' that the player will walk into but make sure it doesn't touch Otis or the scripted sequence. The trigger_once will target the scripted_sequence (seq1) and now compile that and tell me if that worked

Okay. In this case, the fact that you are mapping for Opposing Force, while the games do have differences there shouldn't be too much difference to affect a scripted sequence despite that Gearbox did modify it slightly that I know of. Ok, so I'll ask a few questions and tell me what you have done in regards. First, is Otis following you or is he standing at the door waiting for you to approach? Second, which entity are you using for the sequence (ai_scriptedsequence or a scripted sequence). Third, what EXACTLY have you put in the sentence name property of the scripted_sentence entity?

The world started because I mapped it!!!! :plastered: HAHAHAHAHAHA Thats my opinion...so i'm outta this thread...truth is I don't much care for how on earth we friggin got here...fact is we are here and that is that...the past is built of fabrications over true facts...example...Carbon dating is practically guesswork past 3000 years (yes, proven fact somewhere)...however...according to the Bible...Noah and the great flood...if so then entire soil structure would have shifted and ruined any sort of dating...and whats more the bible is written of things that happened before people actually started recording data...both theories have flaws

Hahaha...im in a weird mood so there...feel free to flame me or whatever  PEACE!!! :)

But that kinda defeats itself...as other things like lungs, tails, ect...would be a useless body part until hundreds of thousands of years later when they had finished 'evolving' it into a useful body part...it just confuses me.
